Ted Kennedy's full speech from Robert's eulogy link
Edited on Wed Aug-26-09 03:48 AM by BirminghamExaminer
I can't get to sleep. I've just sat here and wept while my son and husband are asleep unaware that we have lost one of our greatest politicians.

I found this video/audio of Ted's entire eulogy and of course have cried even more.

Actually there are two.

The first one has two extra minutes.

The first one has two extra minutes.

The second one has better pictures.

1. I weep with you. Will never forget it.
I remember exactly where I was at both assassinations, like it was yesterday.

Yet it was so very long ago.

2. I've watched his eulogy to Bobby so many times, and yet
I always cry each time I see it.

Especially the part where he breaks up and says that so many people ask "Why" but his brother always asked "Why not"

:(

3. To me, it feels like more than the death of a single man, it's the death
of an era. A generation. A time when yes, we were fighting in Vietnam and great struggles were endured during Civil Rights. But it was a time when it seemed that people were together as we watched Neil Armstrong land on the moon and the world was filled with promise despite Vietnam. Who knew that the promise would fade and instead we would have to cling merely to hope, hope that people would start to care about each other again. I guess I'm being maudlin here so I'll stop.
