The last polls showed the socialists ahead by 6 to 7 percent, which could give them a slight majority in the 300-seat parliament, but any tightening of the gap might result in no party winning an overall majority.
If that happens, new elections will have to be called, most likely in November. A new electoral law that will take effect then would make it easier for the winner to form a working majority ...
