Why was it left to the National Freakin' Football League -- hardly a bastion of liberal thought -- to call out bombastic shock jock Rush Limbaugh for his puerile racism and incessant bigotry? And why do NFL owners hold themselves to a higher standard thanthe rest of us?

Limbaugh made headlines again this week - an annoyingly regular occurrence -- when it was reported that he was part of a group attempting to buy a piece of his hometown football team, the St. Louis Rams. As is usual with All Things Rush, controversy erupted immediately.

This should have come as a surprise to no one, since the Rams play in a league where two-thirds of the players are black. Current and retired players, several owners, the head of the players union and of course professional gadflies like the omnipresent Reverend Sharpton all made it immediately and abundantly clear that Limbaugh's bid would be met with fierce opposition.

1. I thought that the fact that even the NFL could say no to him is good news.
...Especially since, as your post says, the NFL is "hardy a bastion of liberal thought."

3. Excellent question Katty since the NFL made their decision based on

MARKET FORCES. The NFL's decision was based on capitalism and the NFL decided to cut their losses in a capitalistic decision. How can the whining bitch limbaugh oppose that? He, the champion of capitalism. He the traveler to a country which traffics in juvenile sex with his bottle of Viagra. He the drug addict. He the man who barely has a high school education. He who no one loves and has no one to love. He who never served in the military to defend our country against the forces of evil he whines about daily. The only asset limbaugh has is ignorant Americans who swallow his crap better then a 20 dollar bourbon street whore. Yes conservatives, you must be proud.

5. Probably because so few of us give a shit about what the NFL does. Sorry football fans.

7. The NFL may seem like a fraternity of neanderthals to you, but consider this.
Football is a game where rules are rules. And where the color of your skin is not a barrier to your success on the field. Football embodies liberal ideals. Rush has no place in that environment.
