No Cuba libre: Loose lips can lose your ship
<clips>

Ahoy, there, mateys!

Ever dream of sailing from Saginaw Bay to the Caribbean, seeing the exotic islands? Maybe even a stop in Cuba?

Belay that thought.

In a Feb. 26 proclamation worthy of George Orwell's "Big Brother," President George Bush ordered the Department of Homeland Security to seize any boat that authorities believe might be used for a trip to Cuba.

The proclamation refers to "any vessel, foreign or domestic," in U.S. waters.

Of course, you'd need to have a boat capable of making the 90-mile run from Florida to Havana. So we'd guess that anyone with a fishing skiff can yak it up at the local dock about going wherever they please, and still keep their boat.

1. It's part of the coming "transportation freeze"....
...

Everyone who the Bush-stag doesn't like will be on the "no fly" list. "Sorry, no appeal is possible - National Security, you know."

Now, you can't go by boat, either. "Sorry, we believe you're going to Cuba!" "From Seattle?" "Sorry, we can't discuss this - National Security!"

2. You may laugh, but ...
that's exactly what this guy intends to do. Even if his boat is being built 400 ft up a mountain. More poer to his arm, I say.
