Parade Magazine Cover: "Home for the Holidays"..with George and Barbara Bush!:
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 06:06 PM by KoKo
Obama's Speech seems to have the "Rehabilitation" for failed "Chimpy Son" crawling out of the Woodwork! Read this puff piece rehab that showed up in all our Sunday Newspapers with a BARF ALERT...but it really is quite frightening on another level for us Dem Progressives. :puke:

Former president Geroge H.W. Bush relaxes with his wife, Barbara, outside their home in Maine.

I first met George H.W. and Barbara Bush more than 10 years ago. She had sent me a letter introducing herself as a fan of my novels and asking me to speak at her annual literacy fundraiser. I said yes. She also invited me and my family to visit hers at Walker's Point, the Bushes' historic home in Kennebunkport, Maine. My wife, Michelle, and I were excited but nervous--we were especially worried that Collin, our then-2-year-old, would break a priceless family heirloom. So as soon as we entered their front door, Michelle assumed a defensive position in front of Collin. Mrs. Bush immediately put us at ease.

"We've had lots of grandchildren here. Sit and relax," she said. This laid-back air was bolstered by the former President getting down on the floor to show our daughter, Spencer, his "scoop" method for putting things away after a board game--this involved using the box top to "scoop" up everything helter-skelter. While it was efficient, Mrs. Bush pointed out, it wasn't very organized. "Nothing's perfect, Bar," her husband said with a twinkle in his eye.

Since then, our families have spent some memorable times together. Once, my son accidentally locked himself into one of their powder rooms at Walker's Point, and Mrs. Bush had to ask someone to break a century-old window to get him out. Another time, the former President took me for a ride on his boat, Fidelity III. He said he only had one rule onboard: If he was driving too fast, I should raise my hand. After the seventh time that I was levitated out of my seat by the boat coming fully out of the water, I swallowed my pride and raised my hand. Bush looked at me mischievously, said "Faster?"---and then sped up.

-snip-

Bush's son, George W. Bush, also dealt with a war in Iraq during his Presidency, and some people have speculated that the elder Bush disagreed with him about the conduct of that war. In our conversation, they alluded to the criticism regularly leveled against the younger Bush only when Mrs. Bush said, "As a parent, it's still hard to see your child endure it."

On a much lighter note, Mrs. Bush said that being the First Lady was, in her opinion, "the second-best job in the country." The best job? "Being the spouse of the Vice President."

When I asked why, she said, tongue partly in cheek, "Because nobody cares what the spouse of the V.P. says, so you can basically say anything. But as First Lady, everyone pays attention to you."

More soberly, she continued, "It can be a very powerful force. You can raise money and awareness for some great causes." During her husband's time in office, Mrs. Bush established the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. To date, it has awarded some $34 million in grants. < Click here for more behind the scenes.>

6. GHWB did one thing right. He refused to go into Iraq.
The Military Industrial Complex did not lead this guy by the nose.

We have to give him that.

8. Agree...but why is Parade doing their "Christmas Issue" on Poppy and Babs?
It's very weird unless it's part of the rehab of their SON and His WARS...which were given credence by Obama's Speech on Escalation and Troop Surge in Afghanistan?

Remember the Neo-Cons said: "Bush will be remembered for remaking the Map in the Middle East...and his policies will after time be proven correct." (scapped from some NeoCon thing on C-Span or whatever...but it's what they said)...AND Bushy II even said it was "too early for history to judge me."

10. I don't know what Parade is up too, and don't care.
I haven't watched the MSM for months now, they create their own reality to turn our perceptions to aligning with theres.

Watch the Net. Ignore/Avoid all else.

9. The first thing I did with today's Parade Magazine.
I took it, unread, over to my sister-in-laws house next door. I'm bird sitting this week-end. I lined the cage with it.

Every Bush has their proper place.

My SIL and BIL are right-wingers. I wonder what they said when they got home this evening, and saw George and Babs staring up at them.

11. That "Home for the Holidays" was the Front Cover and the title changed
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 08:06 PM by KoKo
inside was really the tip off. And then inside was "'Let History Decide What We Got Right" was the Bushie/Reagan/NeoCon PAYOFF to get the Chimp Exempt from War Crimes with his buddy Blair! :grr:

Also...who the Hell is wanting to celebrate a Poppy I Presidency for this Holiday Season. It was bizarre thinking that they would send this shit into homes that voted for Obama...unless....and you know what I mean from my OP...

I had to throw the thing out in my garage so I wouldn't see it again..(recycling) and I wouldn't line my cat box with it.. :D

12. Parade comes in our Sunday paper (St. Paul Pioneer Press)
but is in with all the Sunday paper advertising inserts. I never see it. Sounds like I should be glad that it goes right into the recycling bag.

15. It's the Bush Family Legacy Estate... Chimpy wouldn't go there much...too ashamed
to reveal he's "old New England Money" and not the Texas Longhorn he loves to Claim he is...just like his Poppy.

The roots stay in the Main Estate...the rest is for show...the money they made off oil in Poppy's case and doing "nothing" in Chimpy's case in Texas. But, they still have their Roots Money...somewhere parked for "safe keeping," and the estate and family treasures in Kennebunkport, Maine.

17. If it appears in "Parade," it's bound to be fluff.
Much as I dislike all things Bushy, really, there's no need for a pushback against the soppy nonsense in Parade: it collapses of its own hollowness.
