Errol Southers is the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department's assistant chief for homeland security and intelligence. He also is associate director of the University of Southern California's Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events. He served as a deputy director of homeland security for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A Republican senator who has been blocking President Barack Obama's nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration complains that Democrats are trying to rush a vote on the nominee without adequate debate__(my emphasis__JW).

Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina has placed a hold on the nomination of former FBI agent and police detective Erroll Southers.

DeMint said Wednesday that he is concerned that Southers would let TSA screeners join a labor union.

HOWEVER: Two Senate committees have given Obama's nominee, Erroll Southers, a former FBI special agent and a counterterrorism expert, their bipartisan blessing.

"DeMint, however, has objected to a full Senate vote, saying he wants additional testimony to clarify Southers' stand on unionizing the TSA..."

BUT, In reality, aviation security consultant Rich Roth said,the decision will be made above his pay grade -- by the White House and the head of the Department of Homeland Security, of which TSA is one division.

Demint is from South Carolina. Actually, I think we would be a lot better off if we had let South Carolina secede. Canwe ask them to get the fuck out now??

Hopefully Harry Reid will get him confirmed as soon as the congress reconvenes. He's going to ignore DeMint's hold and bring him up for a vote.
