The NYT's Big David Paterson Bombshell Will Break Monday, Governor's Resignation To Follow
http://www.businessinsider.com/source-nyts-david-paterson-bombshell-to-break-tomorrow-governors-resignation-to-follow-2010-2

This past week, a rumor emerged that the New York Times is working on a huge bombshell with plans to "Spitzerize" New York governor
David Paterson.

Several media outlets have reported on these rumors.

Elizabeth Benjamin at The Daily News describes the report as "much worse" than the governor's previous admission of an affair with a state employee, though she declines to name NYT by name.

We've now heard from a single source familiar with the goings on at the Governor's office that the story will likely drop on Monday, and that the governor's resignation will follow.

We've not yet confirmed the timing of the article or the governor's future plans.

1. Sanford hasn't resigned
So why should Paterson?

4. Oh, but Jesus forgives Republicans.
We Dems are a bunch of Godless heathens. Now if he lived at C Street, he might be able to dodge this.

7. I wonder if
this has anything to do with whom Patterson chose to run the Racino at Aqueduct.

And Ravitch has said that he wouldn't run for Lt gov, I assume the same would hold true for him as gov, leaving the path open for Cuomo.

It will make budget negotiations interesting.

11. This seems to be the nugget fueling the feeding frenzy...
from the (yes, I know) New York Post:

Gov. Paterson just can't seem to get away from rumors and reports that he's always on the prowl for women other than his attractive wife, Michelle.

Call this one Close Encounters of the Closet kind. The latest story -- circulating just weeks after The Post reported that two witnesses claimed to have seen Paterson at a New Jersey steakhouse nuzzling the neck of a "family friend" -- involves an alleged encounter 10 weeks ago between Paterson and an unidentified woman in a utility closet at the governor's mansion in Albany.

A state police source who has access to members of the governor's security detail says a trooper was startled while making a routine round. "At one point he opened the door to an electrical closet/utility room that isn't normally used," the source told Post state editor Fredric U. Dicker.

"The trooper opened the door and the first thing he saw was the governor and a woman inside and the two of them snuggling together, embracing. There was nothing more than that, snuggling, and they had their clothes on.

12. " . . . women other than his attractive wife, Michelle." Which begs the question: how does he kno
they're attractive? He couldn't even see well enough to get his chair in the right place on SNL, so how's he gonna know who's attractive and who's not?

8. Unless he's murdered somebody I hope he sticks it out!
I'm sick of Democrats resigning for being human and making mistakes. Repukes almost never resign no matter what they've done.

10. It would have to be pretty extreme to cause his resignation.
I mean, look: Sanford and Vitter are hanging in there. But I wouldn't be surprised if it leads him not to stand at the next election.
