New Apostolic Reformation Leaders Burn Native Art
The term "Bonfire of the Vanities", also the title of Tom Wolfe's 1987 novel, traces to the zealotry of Italian Dominican priest Girolamo Savonarola, who incited and orchestrated the mass burning of objects deemed to incite sensuality and sin - vanity items such as mirrors, cosmetics, fine dresses and playing cards, and cultural objects such as paintings, statues, books, and musical instruments. But leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation takes things farther, even, than Savonarola.
