A 24yr old was in charge of reorganizing the stock exchange?
This shows that the Bush Crime Family did not give a damn about Iraq. This war is only about emptying the US Treasury, and throwing up any excuse that the American sheeple would swallow so Bush et al could steal at their leisure. It is obvious they never gave a damn about the Iraqi people, who are no more than sand niggers to them.

<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A54294-2004Jun19_2.html>
"Despite the scale of their plans, and Bremer's conclusion by last July that Iraq would need "several tens of billions of dollars" for reconstruction, CPA specialists had virtually no resources to fund projects on their own to create much-needed local employment in the months after the war. Instead, they relied on two U.S. firms, Halliburton Co. and Bechtel Corp., which were awarded large contracts to patch Iraq's infrastructure.

The CPA also lacked experienced staff. A few development specialists were recruited from the State Department and nongovernmental organizations. But most CPA hiring was done by the White House and Pentagon personnel offices, with posts going to people with connections to the Bush administration or the Republican Party. The job of reorganizing Baghdad's stock exchange, which has not reopened, was given in September to a 24-year-old who had sought a job at the White House. "It was loyalty over experience," a senior CPA official said."

Truly despicable. Unfortunate they despise the Iraqi people, treasonous that they despise the American people.

1. Not that they despise Iraqis, but that they are supremely greedy.
They probably haven't given a moment's thought to their feelings about the Iraqis. Their entire focus--all of it--is on the money -- all of it.

2. This is actually very typical of US "aid" programs
From what I've seen in the Balkans, very very similar things, kids right out of college or grad school given power and control over enormous budgets and projects that affect entire communities, kids who know nothing at all about the country, society, history, language, culture, or communities in which they are operating.

So this kind of thing is just par for the course. And it DOES piss people off, believe me.

3. These people don't really understand how things actually work!
They don't know how to build anything, create anything, keep anything running. They think it's easy!

All they've ever done is skate through life acting arrogant, like *. Usually, they leave tremendous damage in their wake but they don't have to stick around to clean up the mess they've made.

This really hit me Friday night when we were having dinner with some of my husband's associates and their wives. One of the women got onto the topic of Clinton and his affair. She actually said "Well it's a good thing that the country pretty much runs itself since he was so distracted over that affair he couldn't do anything else."

And I realized, she truly has no idea how much work he did or how much work other people do. She really does think that things just "run themselves".

4. I'm just glad
I'm not a fiction writer.
