Brzezinski on Afghanistan & New START
Brzezinski stated that we need a middle of the road solution in Afghanistan that allows disengagement. He said that as difficult as it is for us, we need to find an accommodation with the Taliban, particularly at local levels. He also said that we need to get our head around the strategic parameters that Pakistan will only accept a pro-Pak Afghanistan. This will have consequences in America's relationship with India.

4. Good luck with that plan.
There are a lot of uncontrollable variables in the Afghanistan equation. We can't control the situation. A pro-Pak govt in Afghanistan? Pakisttan polls worse than Satan in Afghanistan. I respect Brezinski, but he is too in love with the art of shaping international affairs. We are not gods and we shouldn't pretend that we are.

5. Well, he's used to dealing with them, isn't he?
He's the one who stirred up the hornet's net in the first place - 'who cares about a bunch of stirred-up Muslims?' - isn't that what he said? I don't think his opinion has any value, he's already shown himself unable to link cause and effect.
