Former Gov. Don Siegleman appears in Court Jan. 19. to, hopefully, overturn conviction.
Here is the latest message from this very brave man....

Next Wednesday, January 19, is a critical day in our fight for justice against my Karl Rove inspired prosecution -- a political prosecution ginned up by Rove to target me and criminalize the kind of political activity that happens every day, in every state, all across the country.

On Wednesday, I'll be appearing in front of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Jacksonville, Florida, asking them to overturn my flawed conviction -- once and for all.

We're so close to a huge victory. But keeping up this fight takes resources, and with my legal defense fund nearly exhausted, I'm sending you an urgent appeal at this critical time.

Please contribute to my legal defense fund today -- before Wednesday's appeals court hearing -- so we can overturn my flawed conviction, once and for all!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help and support as I continue to fight for my freedom -- and, together, as we fight for justice across our country. Some amazing things have happened over these last few years because we believed and kept up the fight.

Your activism made me the "poster child" of selective political prosecution, shining a spotlight on the egregious wrongdoing and quest for political vengeance that had overtaken the Department of Justice under Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez -- at the behest of Karl Rove.

Your activism also led the House Judiciary Committee to hold Rove in contempt -- twice -- and conduct an investigation that showed that the United States was using torture as a means of interrogation.

But we still have work to do, and I need your support to keep fighting in this legal battle for my freedom. If we don't prevail in Jacksonville, I will face re-sentencing immediately after the 11th Circuit rules -- likely facing the same judge who had me handcuffed and shackled and put into solitary confinement in a maximum security prison.

There's simply too much at stake -- for me and for our entire system of justice -- to stop fighting now.

Please contribute to my legal defense fund today -- before Wednesday's appeals court hearing -- so we can overturn my flawed conviction, once and for all!

In this new year, I ask you to renew your quest for peace, love, and justice, and to believe that if we keep working for peace and justice, that love will come. Help me keep the fight going.

God bless you for what you do and have done -- and for standing with me at this critical time.

1. My biggest complaint with the Obama justice department
Is the hands off posture they have adopted toward this case.

I can't understand why they have opted not to intervene and at least petition for this bogus conviction to be overturned.

4. I am at a complete loss to understand
why they have not intervened. Siegleman was governor when I lived in AL. You can't imagine how ruthless they are.

8. It is the system. Fascist. Republicans get a slap on the wrist
And democrats are treated like criminals just for not being republicans. I would vote for Don Stillman for anything he ran for. "They" go after the best and brightest.
