IBM job cuts reach Rochester
In the first public round of job cuts during its centennial anniversary year, IBM started notifying hundreds of employees across the company of layoffs Thursday.

IBM is refusing to confirm any details as is its policy, but unofficial sources say that the reduction of Big Blue's national workforce did hit some workers in Rochester.

Given IBM's information blackout, it is difficult to say how many employees had their jobs cut, but a pro-union group that tracks IBM action has documents that show at least 250 jobs were dropped nationally.
