The Debate Over Dog Fighting Video Games for Android
Google is facing backlash for allowing “KG Dogfighting” to be sold in the Android Marketplace. This comes only days after the original app, “Dog Wars,” was pulled after a national outcry, with former dog fighter extraordinaire Michael Vick adding to the dialog.

The question is now becoming whether or not a game which depicts the illegal act of dog fighting dogs should be allowed to be sold.

We have role playing games in which humans blow the living hell out of other humans. There are dozens of them. Hundreds?

But a dog fighting game is somehow off limits?

The insanity never, ever ends. :silly:

2. My initial reaction, exactly.
On reflection, it hasn't changed, either.

This is in the same pile as going to jail for cartoon pornography. It may be unsavoury, even extremely so, but.......IT AIN'T REAL!

3. Well of course. It's NORMAL for people to blow each other to shreds.
We get that message with every news bulletin.

A dog fighting skin wrapped around a pokemon clone, however, is just plain sick.

4. It's all "sick" on that level. Why choose this one for the big stink?

6. The vast majority of people cannot see any relationship between games and behavior.
And if you feel that semi-realistic dogfights are bad, are the "pokemon" dogfights bad, too? How about MarioKart in which animals and humans are in a death race and have the ability to shoot each other, shoot smart bombs, and lay explosive traps?

Where is that line?

I don't believe that sexually charged movies will lead to the moral decay of our society, marijuana is not a gateway drug to heroin, and the new Wii series will make our children gay. I'm certainly not doing a 180 and start thinking that virtual violence among dogs is immoral.
