In combat video games, there is a term that's used

"cooking a grenade"--which means holding onto it a few seconds after pulling the pin so it explodes as it lands.

Well, I ran across this article, which is a preview to the upcoming Rolling Stone article by Matt Taibbi with a breathtaking savaging by John Boehner on the unemployed and poor. I can't wait to read the full story. Talk about "booooom":

http://www.redesign.rumormiller.com/story.php?title=boehner-the-poor-and-lazy-caused-current-crisis-1

Boehner: "Can't pay your student loan? Face it your parents were lazy and you couldn't afford college. The world needs ditch diggers and you were born into a family of them. Can't pay your mortgage? Your house was too expensive and you couldn't afford it. Your taxes going up too much? That's what you get for electing a democrat president. Never had a job after you got a degree? You learned nothing in school and you're lazy. I didn't get to be a congressman by watching jersey shore or playing xbox. You think there's no jobs for you? There used to be. There was when I was your age. You don't have fee time because you have to work all days of the week for 16 hours a day and you don't get paid hourly? Thank the unions. They made decent jobs so out of price range of the average American company that they can't hire anymore people and the works' gotta get done. These unions... I tell you they won't be happy till no one in America has a job.

1. upon that paragraph alone

I cannot image someone so out of touch with those who are not in his "economic strata" as this effluence lays bare.

Yeah, there used to be jobs here because there was a manufacturing base here. We had steel mills. We made are own parts. We manufactured our own toys and clothing. Then you and your party got the bright idea that "greed was good"; and that those people working hard to make those items made too much and you wanted more money--so you played economic russian roulette: you undermined the economic fabric of your communities by shipping jobs overseas. You willingly set in motion a series of events which has brought about the eventual demise of this country and you want to blame those who had no say-so in the matter? Really? Is this how the mindset of the 3rd most powerful person in the country rolls?

We've all been put on "Straight Street" with this, folks. I sure can't wait for Rachel Maddow's coverage of this.

2. I thought that quote was found to be a hoax
It was released right around April Fool's Day and spread like crazy but then turned out to be fake.

4. Shown time and time again to be a lie.
But hey, if you say it often enough, I bet it'll be true, amiright?

5. That "quote" is clearly satire, or ridicule -- while it distills perfectly
Boner's attitude and philosophy, he would never be so honest and forthright as to actually SAY these things.

He lives them, believes them, but he doesn't say them.

Think this is what they call the "Poe" effect(?), in which statements from an extremist cannot easily be differentiated from satire of an extremist's position?

6. I just wonder how spectacular his "karma" moment is going to be
when the bill comes due for how he is governing?

Alas, it might be satire, but the sad thing is: I wouldn't put this line of reasoning past him and whole lot others out there who make life-impacting decisions based on this very attitude. Despite its form, I'm surprised it was even articulated at all.

7. True or false,
This should go viral. Just like the crazy 128 page twitter that Obama supposedly wrote. Lets make it true.

8. Democracy is not likely well-served in the long term by making people more ignorant of reality. n/t
