PHOENIX — A federal judge has ruled that the suspect in the Arizona shooting rampage that wounded U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is mentally incompetent to stand trial, putting the criminal case on hold indefinitely.

I wish we could apply some rule of competence (minimal hold on reality) to individuals campaigning for Federal offices. People I would like to have evaluated: Michelle Bachman, Paul Ryan to name a couple.

Sigh, of course Repubs would say: "HEY, you can't politicize insanity!!!"

2. The Republicans have already politicized insanity
. . . by making insanity the basis of their policies and programs.

A popular definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. You know, like expecting a different result from high end tax cuts and deregulation than in 2008. Or 1929.
