inflict damage to the Federal Government by forcing a government default on its obligations? Raising the Debt Ceiling necessary to enable the Government to meet already existing obligations. If you impair the Government's ability to meet its financial obligations this is the same thing as interfering with the operation of the Government by destructive attacks on assets or officers of the government.

Since they have talked it over in their caucus how best to cause the most damage (the threat of which they hope will cause the Democrats, or at least Obama, to cut down the Government about 40%), so they are guilty of conspiracy to do damage to the Government (by impairing the Government's capacity to meet it's obligations to the citizens and it's financial obligations to creditors). Actually, a 40% cut in Government programs (the option to facing a default) would jeopardize the Government's ability to meet other obligations to its citizens such as provide for food and product safety, defense etc. So the Government is in a no win situation. Jump off the bridge (default) or cut your throat (40% cut in programs). It's a phony, no-win choice.

2. I don't see it as any different from holding an FBI agent hostage and bargaining for his release.

Gimme a million dollars for your officer of the law or else.

...or....

...Give me lower taxes (for our corporate and well heeled supporters - which will come back to them as campaign contributions and sinecures upon retirement) or I'll damage your entire Government.

3. Moveon.org has no standing to bring any case against Congress.
In fact, pretty much nobody has that standing.

4. I'm talking about going to the proper authorities with a complaint. I guess it would be the FBI.

I'm talking about the commission of a crime. You can't impair an officer of the Government in the conduct of his duties. You can't go around blowing up Government facilities. You can't damage the Government by jeopardizingits capacity to meet its obligations or causing it to default on its obligations. That would be more damaging than what Timothy McVeigh did.

Any citizen can file a complaint or alert the proper authorities as to the possible commission of a crime. Moveon.org would just be representing beaucou citizens.

6. Again, there is no standing. Congress members cannot be arrested
for their legislative actions. Constitution 101. The FBI has no authority in the matter.

"Section 6 - Compensation

(The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States.) (The preceding words in parentheses were modified by the 27th Amendment.) They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."

Treason has a specific Constitutional definition. Felony and Breach of the Peace are not relevant. They are immune from what you suggest. They cannot even be questioned about what happens in the congressional chambers.

9. nt = No Text in the message box.
Really no need to use it though.
An empty message box is self evident when you scroll through it.
