Why Voters Tune Out Democrats
(My immediate reaction to this: rightwing propaganda is given a free pass by msm - gd)

BARACK OBAMA can’t catch a break from the American public on the economy, even though he prevented a depression and saved global capitalism.

Perhaps the president finds solace in knowing he’s not alone. During this period of economic crisis and uncertainty, voters are generally turning to conservative and right-wing political parties, most notably in Europe and in Canada.

It’s perplexing. When unemployment is high, and the rich are getting richer, you would think that voters of average means would flock to progressives, who are supposed to have their interests in mind — and who historically have delivered for them.

During the last half-century or so, when a Democratic president has led the country, people have tended to experience lower unemployment, less inequality and rising income compared with periods of Republican governance. There is a reason, however, that many voters in the developed world are turning away from Democrats, Socialists, liberals and progressives.

1. The president isn't progressive
That is why voters are tuning him out. The average voter can see no difference between him and Boner. When the President constantly blurs the lines between the parties, he has no right to complain no one gives him any credit.

3. The American public isn't as dumb as this article would imply
Only Hamilatan Democrats think that the public is incapable of governing themselves.

5. Maybe they don't--maybe the voting machines do
There is a lot more evidence of that than "voter fraud". If it is not violating "innocent until proven guilty" to require stronger ID to cast a vote, then it is also OK to demand more security for votes already cast...

6. The reason that dems are being tuned out is quite simple
Dems are talking like it's no big deal. It's a la-de-da attitude that is grating, when people are out there fighting for their very existence. At some point, when you are getting desperate, words stop making sense, because you are living on raw emotion. The repubs are making headway because they yell and scream and grab those who are desperate, and pull them in by their very basic survival instincts. When you are in trouble and don't know which way to turn, you look for the strongest person in the room. Dems don't look very strong, they don't act very strong, and with this last 'deal' they have confirmed that they can't stand up to anyone. Who would vote for such weaklings?

7. Excellent explanation, zalinda
Depressing and true. After WWI, when the German people were desperate, they turned to the loudest, strongest and most agressive voices, the Nazis.

It's always that way. :scared:

8. Only Republicans (and the Occasional "Blue Dog") Get on the Tee Vee
It's not a question of "tuning out", we're not even on the air!

9. Because Democrats tune out voters is why.
There are plenty of unambiguous surveys out there indicating what the voting public wants done, but they are ignored.
