Perry's Political Predicament: Response to The Response
Rick Perry still plans to speak at "The Response" prayer meeting in Houston on Saturday - several times, as a matter of fact - despite criticism that his appearance could harm his expected candidacy for president. But a lot fewer people may hear him speak than he intended. At latest count, organizers had received just 8,000 RSVP's for an event at a stadium that holds 71,000 people.

After all the hoopla over "The Response" and Perry's personal promotion of it, he can't back out now. But I bet he wishes he could. This is turning into a political disaster for the Texas governor, and hardly the way one would like to launch a presidential campaign that's already late in getting started anyway.

4. If Perry had any sense he would cancel it due to excessive heat and drought.
He could make the case that the heat and drought in Texas deserves his undivided attention. Or he could fake an illness.

6. Did you see the thread about his college grades? IF Perry had any sense
he didn't in college, so he doesn't now, either.

Yes, he should cancel it due to weather.

5. Rick Perry, 2002:
It's a far cry from the Perry of 2002, who was described in a Texas Monthly profile as reluctant to discuss his faith in public. Asked how his religion informed his politics, he replied: "I don't think it does, particularly."
