Support For Republicans And Tea Party Falling After Debt Ceiling Debate
Over the past couple of weeks the Republicans, and the incredibly clueless members of the Tea Party movement which are dominating the party, have brought the United States close to defaulting upon the debt that George Bush and the Republicans are primarily responsible for running up. Their irresponsible actions have led to the downgrading of the United States by Standard and Poor’s and a major drop in the stock market (which fortunately showed signs of recovery today). The Tea Party has reached new levels of irresponsibility, first in desiring that the United States default, and secondly in immediately blaming Democrats for the consequences of their actions after the downgrading.

(...)

Just 33 percent of Americans approve of the Republican Party, while 59 percent disapprove in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday. That’s a net negative 10-percentage-point shift from less than a month ago, when 41 percent of those surveyed by CNN said they had a favorable view of the GOP while 55 percent had an unfavorable one.

2. I wish that were true
But after the outcome in WI and after what they did to the Unions and the races were so close, it makes me wonder if Bachmann really does have a chance. :hide:

3. Their approval might be dropping
but they still control the vote counting mechanism and the media. So they win. There is a reason for their confidence and arrogance. They know they cannot lose.

7. You g otta remember that those were gerrymandered districts in WI
They were all districts with more registered republicans than democrats. The deck was stacked against democrats in all 6 of those districts.

The problem is gerrymandering and creating districts that are safe for one party or the other rather than having districts with less partisan (more equal/fair) voter populations.

That the WI Dems won two of those seats back speaks very well of their ability to organize and motivate voters in their districts.

5. The recall failed attempts occurred in Republican
strongholds....Though the Republican incumbents prevailed, the Republican Governor was damaged. (Democracy Now) Furthermore, the ratio is now 17 Republicans to 16 Democrats in the state legislature...One of the 17 Republicans has a reputation for resisting egregious over-reach by Governor Walker.

6. It doesn't matter whether or not support for
Republicans is dwindling - they have Obama in the WH...I have seen the polls showing that support for Obama and the Democrats are also dwindling because of this debacle - it just depends upon which poll you choose and when you choose it. The bottom line regardless of polls is that this is a Republican friendly agenda.
