Boehner's deficit of leadership
<snip>

Speaker of the House John Boehner is about as a brazen as a politician gets.

On Monday, responding to President Barack Obama's plan to cut the federal budget deficit by $3.6 trillion through a mix of spending cuts and tax increases, Boehner said: "Pitting one group of Americans against another is not leadership."

The joint congressional committee seeking to cut the deficit, said Boehner, "is engaged in serious work to tackle a serious problem. ... Unfortunately, the president has not made a serious contribution to its work today."

It takes a lot of nerve to say that, when Boehner himself made a speech last week that was intended to severely restrict the joint committee's ability to reach a fair — and serious — conclusion.

1. Keep it up Boehner. Just keep it up.

2. After his defeat today in the House, Boehner might well have
cemented his position as the least effective House majority leader ever.

3. And yet, one can only lead when others are willing to follow.
He may not be a very strong leader, but I think it's more on the followers side where the issue is.

They just want to destroy things. They don't want to build anything.
