How it Works; How it Doesn't Work: A Primer for Municipal Officials in Occupied Zones
To the Mayors, Police Departments, and Other Civic Authorities in Occupied Locations:

How it Works:
The people in the streets pay your salaries. They vote for you. You work for them.

How it Doesn’t Work:
The Koch Bros., the banksters, and their helots do NOT pay your salary. They don’t vote for you. All they do is bribe or threaten you. That may have been enough in the past. I assure you, it will not be so in the future.

How it Works:
Your FIRST, and MOST IMPORTANT responsibility as municipal and regional officials is to keep everyone safe. That includes the citizens in the streets and parks. Your SECOND responsibility, and of nearly equal importance to the first, is to RESPECT and SAFEGUARD the Constitutional and legal rights of everyone, again including the citizens in the streets and parks.

How it Doesn’t Work:
The rights of corporations and media organizations to have things the way they want them rank about 1,729th on the list of your LESS IMPORTANT responsibilities as municipal officials. They do not now, and never have, outranked the important responsibilities of safeguarding living people and guaranteeing Constitutional and legal rights of breathing people with human DNA.

How it Works:
The people in the streets live and work and pay taxes and participate in civic life in your communities. Many of them are young. They are likely to be around longer than you. Ultimately, they will take over the world and when you are elderly and vulnerable they will be in charge.

How it Doesn’t Work:
The corporate drones, “influential people,” and shills of the Oligarchs serving at higher levels of government not only will not look after your future when you are old and vulnerable, but as soon as someone more useful to them comes along they will throw you under the bus, have no doubts.

I hope this helps clarify things for you.

helpfully,
Bright

2. It's just a little too long to be on a sign at EVERY Occupy site, which is where it belongs
It captures all the important points, precisely and clearly.

5. The slap at the media was uncalled for and incorrect
EVERYONE has access to most of the encampments. That some of the outliers are making the rest of us look like idiots is an ongoing problem that different sites are using different approaches with.

7. How many votes do the Koch brothers have?
Two.
I know it's hard to ignore the bribe money, but acceptance does not necessitate compliance. Take their money and uphold the rights guaranteed in the Constitution. Squeeze the greed merchants for as much as possible then tell them to take their complaints to Dick Cheney, or they can go fuck themselves.
