Zakaria: The young face of Europe's far right
It remains one of the most shocking mass murders in recent memory. Last week Anders Behring Breivik appeared in a public court in Oslo and admitted to killing 77 people last July. He wasn't repentant. Instead, Breivik pleaded not guilty to terror charges, claiming he was in a state of war to protect Europe from being taken over by Muslim immigrants.

How could the culture of Northern Europe, known for social welfare states and generous foreign aid budgets, create a killing machine like Breivik?

An important new survey sheds some light. The think tank Demos conducted the first-ever quantitative investigation of far-right groups in Europe online. This is especially important because the Internet following of these parties dwarfs its formal membership. Remember, the likes of Breivik are created and radicalized online.

They are what they claim to hate.

1. That article is really worth reading!
Current TV had a documentary about Moslem-haters in Britain that was pretty insightful. The leader makes a lot of speeches in working class pubs.

The worst of it, is that mr Breivik, planned to kill more than 700 in all.. And had lists of important political people he wanted to murder.. Not that blowing up our government offices, and murdering 77 totally Innocent kids on a youth camp was bad enough, he planned to murder a lot more before he was finished...

To be honest I have no clue why Breivik did what he did, I doubt that even our finest doctors who have educated them selfs in the education of the mind of man is sure why Breivik could possible do what he did.. It is so out of proportions of what Norway have experienced for as long as the records goes.. Even germany under World War two was not "bad" as Breivik was... It is just an experience I doubt we Will get to understand for a long time..
