Absolute proof that Hussein had dangerous weapons has morphed into "we know Hussein had a weapons program" (for which any idle wish to have a bomb qualifies). Irrefutable knowledge that Hussein and Al-Qaeda were Saturday night drinking buddies has been replaced with — well, just about anything will do.

But the coup de grace the Republicans fall back on, the #1 intimidation technique to be used on anyone who questions the good intentions of George W. Bush, the absolute-sure-fire-can’t-miss-you’re-toast-Buddy argument to put everything back in "perspective" is this:

It's like the Perot phenomenon: People think he stole votes from Bush I, but studies have shown that he took votes equally from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Libertarians are the exact same way. 1/3 of Libertarians are former Republicans, 1/3 are former Democrats, and 1/3 are Independents. I think that the reason for this is that a Libertarian is like an extreme Democrat on social issues and an extreme Republican on fiscal issues. So people who feel strongly about social issues and/or fiscal issues might be interested in that philosophy.

I was just trying to find the web email address of another libertarian phony radio asshead Lars Larsen. The only time I listen to talk radio is in the car. I am sure people at stop lights look over and see a person's mouth moving and wonder wtf is that person crazy?-- because I am yelling outloud at the radio hehe.

And I have doubts about any strategy of cuddling up to Libertarians.

Most Libertarians I know may have issues with the present administration, but are interested in bringing it back to what they think it should be, not changing it. To them-- we are, and always will be, the real enemy.

They are a rightward pull on the Republicans, and we might be able to ally with them on the occasional issue, but don't for a minute or two trust them.

Or support them. They do well enough supporting themselves.

Saddam was a tyrant but the trains ran on time and the power and water stayed on. On the one hand, the tyrant is gopne; on the other, chaos filled the void in the wake of his ouster.

My parents often used the expression 'Robbed from Peter to pay Paul" meaning we eliminated one problem only to instigate another.

Look at North Korea -- sure they're a menacing dictatorship BUT it isn't worth a Northern Korean nuke attack on Seoul to remove the problem.

Solution: despite yesterday's bombing, get the UN (full force) into Iraq to stabilize it with international forces. We can't undue what is done but we fix the problem AND prevent it from happening again.

Libertarians are not a rightward pull on the Republicans. They are for social and economic freedom, while Republicans are mostly only for economic freedom, and Democrats are mostly only for social freedom. The only group that wants both are Libertarians.
