Smith's way to hit Kerry: French-frying

http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/david_sarasohn/index.ssf?/base/editorial/1092830152139940.xml

"On a conference call arranged by the Bush campaign to hype its appearance here, Oregon Sen. Gordon Smith got right down to it on what was wrong with the Democratic candidate.

"It's not John Kerry's fault that he looks French," conceded Smith generously. "But it is his fault that he wants to pursue policies that have us act like the French. He advocates all kinds of additional socialism at home, appeasement abroad, and what that means is weakness for the future."

Sacre bleu.

Smith's eagerness to get to the core issue of this campaign -- the suspicion that Kerry might, right in the midst of his inauguration, pop on a beret, light up a Gauloise and start muttering about how tourists have ruined the Eiffel Tower -- shows just how exciting life in a swing state has become. While some people might get distracted by Iraq or unemployment, Smith focuses on the country's real danger:

Frenchness."

Another great piece by Sarasohn, showing how low everyone in the GOP intends to go and keep on going.

Senator Smith:

AFP reported on Aug 13 that you said the following:

"I've often said it's not John Kerry's fault that he looks French, but it is his fault that he wants to pursue policies that have us act like the French...He advocates all kinds of additional socialism at home, appeasement abroad, and what that means is weakness for the future,"

What a profoundly ignorant, even bizarre, set of things to say. Not long ago, we Oregonians could take pride in a Senate delegation that comprised you and Ron Wyden working together for the benefit of our state and our nation. Now you seem to have slipped the rails and run off into some cuckoo-land of Rove-ian rhetoric.

You owe the people of Oregon an apology for your foul, intemperate remarks.

2. Our Founding Father's loved France

Ben Franklin lived there for years. Conservatives obviously hate the Founding Fathers.

4. Oh for god's sake!
If they hate the French sooo bad, why don't they just send the Statue of Liberty back?
Know why we haven't seen Karen Hugh's. She was born in France, so they hate her?
