GOP officials noted that most of the party stands strongly behind the Iraq mission. But signs of dissent are emerging. One voice is familiar: Pat Buchanan, the commentator who challenged the first President Bush from the right in 1992, making him more vulnerable to Bill Clinton. With this President Bush, Mr. Buchanan's weapon of choice is a new book titled Where The Right Went Wrong (Thomas Dunne Books; $24.95). Calling the Iraq invasion a mistake that exposes the United States to even more terrorism, Mr. Buchanan wrote, "We won the war in three weeks – and we may have lost the Islamic world for a generation."

When worlds collide
The shock! I agree with Buchanan

By Bill Press, TRIBUNE MEDIA SERVICES
http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/democrat/news/opinion/9576173.htm

In an effort to be fair and balanced, I admit that conservatives aren't always wrong about everything. Once in a rare while, even a conservative can get something right. Take Pat Buchanan. Yes, for the last seven years - on radio and television, on CNN and MSNBC, in front of countless public audiences - Buchanan and I have made a living by disagreeing with each other. Usually, but not always, civilly. He and I each have strong opinions. He's a conservative, I'm a liberal, and never the twain shall meet.

Or so I thought. Until I picked up Pat's latest book. It's called "How the Right Went Wrong." And it's a blistering criticism of the policies of George W. Bush. You think I'm hard on Bush? Read Pat's book. He's so tough on Bush I almost felt sorry for the guy, even though I'd never vote for him. <snip>

Buchanan's book lambastes Bush for Iraq invasion
By David D. Kirkpatrick, The New York Times
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002012188_buchanan22.html

Pat Buchanan, the conservative commentator whose Republican primary challenge and divisive convention speech weakened the first President Bush's campaign for re-election in 1992, published a book excoriating the second President Bush over the invasion of Iraq. Calling the invasion of Iraq "the greatest strategic blunder in 40 years, a mistake more costly than Vietnam," Buchanan writes, "If prudence is the mark of a conservative, Bush has ceased to be a conservative."

2. not the best title... i was confused for a bit.
a major book 'bombs'? or major 'book bombs'.

obviously it's the latter because this is a positive piece promoting these books. but just saying - it does leave multiple interpretations open.

5. I think the Kitty Kelly book could do major damage in this area
Like with many other forms of media books can target a specific public of interest. While the books of Seymour Hersh and Bob Graham might be more of an interest to academics, news junkies and politically engaged activists, the Kitty Kelly book seems to have set eye on a larger public.
It has a big "gossip" factor to it. We all know how "gossip" is simply devoured by people living in celebrity idolizing culture.
Mind you, the term "gossip" doesn't automatically imply lies, so I'm not saying that this book has no truthful base supporting it, just that it has a wide spreading potential by promising the really juicy bits.
IMO, the Kitty Kelly book will rocket to the top ten and hover there for a really loooooooooong time.

6. You should change your title - At first I read it to mean that
the listed books had bombed and were of little value.

9. All of these authors should be doing lots of interviews
as their books emerge. That is when their ideas get a chance to fill the airwaves. The interviews are the key. Kelly has a bunch lined up.
