Freedom is an illusion
"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre." - Frank Zappa

2. Suzy, Suzy Creamcheese......
this is the voice of your conscience.....

Having just read Auntie Pinko's upbeat article (I highly recommend it
http://www.democraticunderground.com/auntie/04/156.html)this brought me crashing back to earth.....Yet , in retrospect I can find optimism within its condemnation of the failures of the democrats.

Most people here seem to think that the battle is against the electorate, that "they" are stupid, blindly, religiously intolerant and have some sort of learning disability.I disagree, people vote for the message, or more accurately the various messages that appeal to them and seem to echo what is important to them. That the GOP message is a lie is only obvious to us, that the Democratic message is weak, a pale copy of that of the GOP and very inconsistent is only obvious to them.......

The first battle that must be won, if this nation is to be turned from its greedy, avaricious, cruel path is the inner battle that many moderates plainly are ignoring. Placing ones hopes on a party that has cast out the Progressive, the Liberal, silenced the Moderate is sort of like trusting Bush to keep his word.Unless and until the Democratic party ends its silent allegiance to the corporate interests and returns its focus to the working folks, to its roots, there will be no true two party system and no real choice for the voter.
