let the war between the cia and the WH continue!!

.....The White House-C.I.A. relationship became dysfunctional, and while the blame was certainly not all on one side, Langley was engaged in slow-motion, brazen insubordination, which violated all standards of honorable public service. It was also incredibly stupid, since C.I.A. officials were betting their agency on a Kerry victory.......

OP-ED COLUMNIST
The C.I.A. Versus Bush
By DAVID BROOKS

Now that he's been returned to office, President Bush is going to have to differentiate between his opponents and his enemies. His opponents are found in the Democratic Party. His enemies are in certain offices of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Over the past several months, as much of official Washington looked on wide-eyed and agog, many in the C.I.A. bureaucracy have waged an unabashed effort to undermine the current administration.

3. If there was anybody in the world that I wouldn't want a problem
with, it would be the people at the CIA!

Is that a fight that anybody could win?

4. If I were a betting sort of gal, I'd put my money on the C.I.A. to Win
Like SGT Schultz in "Hogan's Heros," we - the public, will KNOW NOTHING.

However, methinks nothing short of a massive purge will prevent a well earned C.I.A. "big get even."

5. what's really twisted is:
the cia used to win out over ALL branches of govt. Today, even with tenet controlling the CIA, the cia seems to take the submissive role.

Or, I wonder, maybe there is a sect of the cia that is operating, that wants nothing more than to trounce george bush. Ya never know...

6. But we can DREAM can't we? :-)
Your thoughts are giving me the "warm fuzzies" VivaKerry.

Like a disdain for soft touches like "group hugs" I don't think the C.I.A. enjoys playing "submissive." :P

7. If I was CIA...
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 04:39 AM by firebee
I'd be bouncing out and letting this administration collect their own intelligence. No more draggin my ass through the dirt because the White House is comprised of inept morons.. Unfortunately, nothing short of numerous attacks on U.S. soil would shake the cobwebs loose from the neo-conformist knuckleheads.... and even then???? They'd still blame it on Clinton. Where did these retards come from???

8. could this possibly be? sympathy for the CIA in my heart?
bizarre, what a new and strange feeling...

politics DO make strange bedfellows!

but whereas I will keep things nice and nonviolent, i worry some in the CIA (purged or not) are not the type of people to do the same.

we live in interesting times... it's a bad thing.

10. Brooks ignores the Plame outing -- black is white, up is down ...

The David Brooks piece must have been spoonfed from the folks who outed Plame via Novak.

Brooks's column reveals more by what it doesn't say than by what it does. Has he ever considered the possibility that perhaps there's a reason the CIA rank-and-file are so distraught about this administration? That maybe they're more than a little unnerved that senior White House officials can out a covert operative with impunity, or at least with the knowledge that the president will do the absolute minimum, and only after pressure from his CIA chief, to investigate the leak?
