Iraq's Allawi Is a 'Straw Man' and a 'Criminal,' Says Sy Hersh at NYU
NEW YORK Speaking at New York University this week, famed investigative reporter Seymour Hersh called Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi a "straw man" and a "criminal" and said the key story the press is missing in Iraq is the recent upsurge in U.S. bombing -- even before the Fallujah operation.

"One story the press doesn't touch is this criminal -- this straw man that's been put in -- Allawi, this ridiculous figure that we've installed as the prime minister," Hersh said. "To keep him in power, we've exponentially increased the bombing...

1. What do you expect
Bush to actually put in someone who will represrent the interests opf the Iraqi people. Lets look at why Chalabi went. Not because he was the criminal that he was,. becasue he started suggesting that since what the Iraqi people wanted was that the U.S> get out, tat they might get out. As soon as Chalabi started acting like someone who was doing what the Iraqi people wanted, to end the u.S. occupation he was thrown out and replaced. The U.S. empire needs a cleint leaders of Iraq who will not decide to actually rule the Iraqi's Democratically, but with a whip.

As in Afghanistan. where the vote was massively fixes (CBS had reporters not only getting multiple voters registration cards as Afghani's but voting multiple times. none of thie wasallowed to make the news in the U.S.)we can expect that Allwai will miraculously win the election in January if the insurgents allow it to be held. THey know well that the fix is already in and are fighting against a puppet state put in place by the U.S.

2. I agree! - BUT...
A "New York Jew" won't move the red to the blue -

We need to fight our propaganda war better than the administration in Iraq.

Hersh, should change his name to Scott M. Cherry.

3. Allawi classic puppet.
The classic example of an imperialistic regime is placing a puppet leader in charge of a colony. Allawi is the perfect stooge, a western educated Iraqi just clean enough to avoid serious suspicion in the international community while appealing to enough Iraqis to make his leadership legitimate.

it incredibly ridiculous, I want to throw up listening to him, his lie are even more insincere and shallow.

6. He's a tool.
Alawi is the perfect stooge, who else would bend over for George?
This is how I see it, the US will prop him up for, say, three or four years and then he will be 'assasinated' by someone with no obvious ties to the admninstration. Then the new president, or general, will sign favorable deals with companies in, oh, maybe TEXAS and George will get a seat of the board of directors faster than you can say 'Getty up, little horsy."
That's just a rough guess, of course.

5. Surely, equally criminal is
"the recent upsurge in U.S. bombing -- even before the Fallujah operation"

The US is the occupying power, responsible for the well being of the people it has had the arrogance to conquer. But to protect its ghoulish little puppet ruler, it is slaughtering them in their thousands.
