The Bush administration has no doubts. It knows that it is right...

An article by Paul Craig Roberts - Virtuous Violence Is Upon Us

The United States is in dire straits. Its government is in the hands of people who connect to events neither rationally nor morally.

If President Bush’s neoconservative administration were rational, the US would never have invaded Iraq. If Bush’s government were moral, it would be ashamed of the carnage and horror it has unleashed in Iraq.

The Bush administration has no doubts. It knows that it is right and virtuous. Bush and the neocons dismiss factual criticisms as evidence that the critics are "against us" . . .

1. Paul Craig Roberts Continues to Amaze Me
This guy was an assistant editor of the Wall Street Journal and had a column in Business Week. He was one of the most flaming economic Reaganites I've ever read. He was the O'Reilly of supply-side free-market economics. I would have assumed he was a necon, too.

Instead, for the last couple of years, he's come out with a string of fiery anti-war (or at least anti-Iraq-war) articles, and they've only increased in eloquence and outrage.

It's the same face. I just can't believe it's the same guy.

2. Well, besides the tragic loss of life...
due to this illegal war, I think anybody can see that the longer we stay, the closer we get to a catastrophic outcome to our economy. Believe me, the chimp has the anti-midas touch.

3. That's True
although in the 80's, he didn't seem to mind big deficits or a large military buildup. I get the feeling it's actualy principle this time. People's souls move in unpredictable ways.

4. He has moved all right - as far away from * as possible

I emailed him to commend his last article. He replied by pointing me to an article by Charles Goyette entitled, "How to Lose Your Job in Talk Radio" - http://www.indiemediamagazine.com/article.php?story=20040110230201215

I believe Mr. Roberts is still a supply-side conservative, but he is also an anti-fascist and when it comes to being an American, that's where the rubber meets the road. I am honored to have him as an ally.
