Tom Snyder weighs in again on the state of the union
You know, folks, we all better start thinking about what kind of a country we want this old USA to be. The do-gooders who had a hissy fit when Janet Jackson's tit was on the television screen for maybe one-tenth of a second are probably in the house for such pieces of television crap as "Desperate Housewives" or "Wife Swap" or some of the other jiggly eye candy that passes off as reality television programming. A basketball game in suburban Detroit becomes a free for all that suggests there are a lot of people in this country who are in desperate need of anger management therapy. And after appearing in a sleazy and totally inappropriate opening to Monday Night Football, a black player who cavorted through the episode with a seemingly naked white lady is now suggesting this whole sorry episode was somehow an example of racism in America. All of these episodes--the Janet Jackson debacle, the basketball game between the Pacers and the Pistons, the Monday Night Football nonsense--all of this is trumped up on talk radio, in the major newspapers, the television cable networks. Yet the nightly coverage of the war in Iraq--showing people being blown to smithereens--passes by without protest. Nobody questions whether kids seeing this gruesome butchery on television or the internet is really damaging their sense of value and security. No smug and portly Jerry Falwell railing against the immorality that seems to pervade every facet of the war in Iraq. The moral compass of America is badly out of whack right now. But it can be corrected. Not by fining broadcasters. Not by getting rid of Dan Rather. Not by installing V-Chips on television sets. Go after the corruption in government, in sports, in the church, in business. And in major media. The naked lady on television is not the problem. The continuing absence of the naked truth on television is.

For that man to get back on TV.

On edit: or on AAR. Are you reading this, Sheldon?

2. I couldn't agree more ...
I remember watching his show and thinking, "This guy is the perfect balance between intelligence and common sense."

Yes, even if he's on late (past 10PM), I'd be willing to watch and/or record his shows.

6. tom has written many times that he enjoys retirement
I doubt he could be lured back for a daily or even weekly TV program.

I wonder if AAR offered him a daily or weekly slot that he could broadcast from home would interest him?

We certainly need somebody like Tom on the air, again.

13. My son and I always watched his show.. We NEED him back
It always used to tickle me, how my young son enjoyed watching his show..

Tom is the BEST interviewer around, and it sickend me to see his quality show depart, in favor of that drivel they replaced it with..

7. Hate to admit it--
--but for some reason, I'd thought Tom Snyder was no longer amongst the land of the living -- glad to find out I am completely mistaken!

His "things you can only say on Thanksgiving" is hilarious!

9. My first reaction ...."bullshit!" We are not LOSING they are STEALING
the elections! Jesus, Mary and Joseph, why is that concept so difficult for people to understand! Totally beleivable when its the Ukraine though? I hate people sometimes.

IF he means beat them by "NOT LETTING THEM STEAL ANYMORE ELECTIONS" then, I'm with him.

11. How many votes do you think they stole?
It really bothers me that there was clearly voter fraud going on. People are working their asses off investigating and trying to get it in the news.
OTH It also bothers me that every thread is highjacked by the voter fraud issue. The truth is we must talk about every issue. There could be no voter fraud if the election wasn't close. I'd also like to figure out why so many people voted for the worst president in history and what we can do about it.

14. 110K votes x 31 states = 4.31 M...(mandate)
smaller states could not come through with the entire 110K, but the difference was surely made up in states that would never have their totals questioned.. (Texas/AL,GA,MS and some other really-red states..
