Photos of Fallujah dead show civilians shot in bed, surrendering
Series of photos of city's dead show civilians shot in bed, surrendering

Two weeks ago an Iraqi man was allowed into Fallujah by the U.S. military to help bury bodies. He was allowed to take photographs of 75 bodies, in order to show pictures to relatives so that they might be identified before they were buried.

(snip)
One of the family members who was looking for dead relatives, shared these photos which were taken from that book.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, he told of what he saw in his village during the last few weeks.

“The Americans shot every boat on the river because people were trying to escape Fallujah by the river. They shot all the sheep, any animal people owned was shot. Helicopters shot all the animals and anything that moved in all the villages surrounding Fallujah during the fighting.”

He said that none of the roads into Fallujah, or around Fallujah were passable because anyone on them was shot. “I know one family that were all killed. There are no signs on these roads that tell people not to use them-so people don’t know they aren’t supposed to use them. No signs in English or Arabic!”

2. I read something really disturbing this morning. Perhaps someone
has the link to this story. Hundreds of bodies were piled up on top of each other in an unrefrigerated or poorly refrigerated warehouse?
Did I read that here or somewhere else? I don't know what to do anymore. I protested I worked and I wrote letters. I made phone calls and knocked on doors. I enlisted my family to help. I keep hoping that something will happen and this nightmare will be over but I just don't know anymore. I have a very optimistic nature but this seems so out of control.

4. It is obscenely sickening whats happening in Fallujah,
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 02:49 PM by omulcol
and find most pictures extremely difficult to believe or comprehend. Though most photographs are ( for me ) vague images they are unquestionably photo's of murdered civilians in their own homes, and of stated fiighters.

But I also found this link, on the same site that cyberpj highlighted, that has confirmed previous claims by Iraqi civilians and reporters that American forces are using some type of Phosphorous bomb that burns the skin off people.

9. although you never know
I mean it's getting so hard to trust anything we read, hear, even see, anymore --I believe in this site and it's mentioned links appear credible and may well deserve our support and our attention.

I don't get that feeling from our own media these days.

11. FALLUJAH NAPALMED
I agree there is so much that needs careful consideration with regard to news ... but just came across this article long after reading Iraqi civilian reports of what was happening in Fallujah.

US uses banned weapon... but was Tony Blair told?
By Paul Gilfeather, Political Editor

http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=14920109&method=full&siteid=106694&
headline=fallujah-napalmed-name_page.html

US troops are secretly using outlawed napalm gas to wipe out remaining insurgents in and around Fallujah.

News that President George W. Bush has sanctioned the use of napalm, a deadly cocktail of polystyrene and jet fuel banned by the United Nations in 1980, will stun governments around the world.

And last night Tony Blair was dragged into the row as furious Labour MPs demanded he face the Commons over it. Reports claim that innocent civilians have died in napalm attacks, which turn victims into human fireballs as the gel bonds flames to flesh.

Outraged critics have also demanded that Mr Blair threatens to withdraw British troops from Iraq unless the US abandons one of the world's most reviled weapons. Halifax Labour MP Alice Mahon said: "I am calling on Mr Blair to make an emergency statement to the Commons to explain why this is happening. It begs the question: 'Did we know about this hideous weapon's use in Iraq?'"

Since the American assault on Fallujah there have been reports of "melted" corpses, which appeared to have napalm injuries.

Last August the US was forced to admit using the gas in Iraq.

A 1980 UN convention banned the use of napalm against civilians - after pictures of a naked girl victim fleeing in Vietnam shocked the world.

America, which didn't ratify the treaty, is the only country in the world still using the weapon.

17. Edwartha , are you saying it's perfectly Ok
to burn the flesh off innocent children because Iraq has resistance fighters?
Napalm is banned by every country in the world except America.

6. More from the BBC
BBC NEWS
Disease risk stops Falluja return

Sewage and rabid animals pose a significant health threat in Falluja, US military officials have warned. An army spokesman said the estimated 250,000 people that fled the assault cannot return until the risk posed by stray animals and sewage is eliminated.

<snip>

"Many streets are flooded with sewage water," Red Cross spokesman Ahmad Rawi, who has just returned from Falluja, told the BBC News website. He said the city's water treatment plant has to itself be drained before an assessment can be made of how badly it has been damaged. Another priority for the agency, Mr Rawi said, is the identification of "hundreds of bodies" collected and stored by US-led forces in a former potato warehouse.

<snip>

Rabies danger

As well as water-borne diseases, US forces say dogs that have fed on corpses pose a risk to returning refugees. US soldiers have been killing the stray animals to prevent the spread of rabies, the BBC's Caroline Hawley reports. Marines interviewed by AFP news agency said orders had been given to "thin out" the city's animal population.

<snip>

The US military has not said when it will allow refugees back into Falluja. Officers are planning to use iris scans and fingerprints to screen males of a fighting age who try to re-enter the city, our correspondent reports.

10. Fallujah as a “Model City”
Were you referring to this article?

If not, read on --- your take on things is shared:

"Another idea being kicked around is to require the men to work for pay in military-style battalions where these “work brigades” will reconstruct buildings and the water system, depending on the men’s skills.

There will also be “rubble-clearing” platoons.

The intent of the US commanders and Iraqi leaders is to make Fallujah a “model city.”"

15. Reconnaissance by fire ... or indiscriminate slaughter of civilians
One factor that may be responsible for the large number of dead civilians in Fallujah is that the military has been using the tactic of "reconnaissance by fire." That means using weapons to figure out whether enemy are present. A US armored vehicle or helicopter will simply blast away at a suspicious street or block of homes or apartments. They are trying to get someone to fire back. If anyone fires back then they "light up" the target with 50 cal. machine guns, missiles or other heavy fire until the target is destroyed.

Unfortunately, if the reconnaissance turns out to show that there were no enemy and there is no return fire -- well, you've just shot up some civilians cowering in their homes.

Kind of like old New England witch trials. Bind the accused's hands and legs and throw them in the river. If they die, they were innocent. If they miraculously float and live, then they are witches and need to be burned at the stake.

Same here -- if they get killed in the first round of reconnaissance fire, they were innocent. If they shot back they were "tourrrrrists" and insurgents and "foreign" fighters.
