Hitler = Fundimentalist Christian
I don't know if this was posted earlier, however, if not, here it is...

1. I always thought he was more of an occultist
He may have used Christianity to achieve his power, but that is pretty commonplace.

2. occultist?
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 04:44 PM by indestructibleman
i've often heard that too. however, i haven't seen anything to back that up. i'm beginning to suspect that's a bit of a snowjob.

here's a an article discussing the theory. and here's another.

anyway, i don't think what he believed is as important as the type of dogma he used and how similar it is to what we're hearing today.

that's the story that inspired these:

5. Not an "occultist"
Hitler was actually a Christian, and to this day, the KKK (which pretty much shares Hitler's view of Jews, blacks, et. al.) claims to be Christian.

The "occult" label was slapped on Hitler by Christians who didn't want to admit Hitler was one of their own.

3. Hitler: Christianity is an invention of sick brains
The web link article to this topic uses "Table Talk" as a source for
quotes from Hitler. Here are some other quotes from "Table Talk" from
the demented dictator:

"Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery.... <here insults people who believe
transubstantiation>....
"When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunized against the disease."

"The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity."

"National Socialism and religion cannot exist together....
"The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity....
"Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things.

The entire premise of the article on buzzflash false. Hitler was not a Christian, but used politics to lure Christians into National Socialism. National Socialism, at its core, is deeply tied to occultism.

6. You're ignoring the facts
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 06:00 PM by hinachan
<<The entire premise of the article on buzzflash false.>>

This doesn't explain all the myriad references Hitler made to his own Christianity, particularly in "Mein Kampf". To quote nobeliefs.com (which isn't the only site with these facts, not by a long shot, but at least they're conveniently sorted and highlighted for the curious 'net surfer), "To deny the influence of Christianity on Hitler and its role in World War II, means that you must ignore history and bar yourself forever from understanding how this atrocity occurred."

Find Hitler's own words here:
http://www.nobeliefs.com/Hitler1.htm

Let's face it, all these "Christians" hide behind Christianity to justify their evil deeds. Even Christ Himself isn't that holy, if you really read the Bible...some choice quotes are here:

http://www.nobeliefs.com/jesus.htm

The entire Bible is pretty sick, if you take the time to read it, too. More choice quotes:

http://www.nobeliefs.com/DarkBible/DarkBibleContents.htm

Is it any wonder Europeans are chilled to the core when they hear Bush's claims that the Lord is guiding his actions? Too reminiscent of Nazi Germany, folks....

8. I offer quote after quote from Hitler and I ignore the facts?
and you offer no response to all those quotes?

The vast majority of DUers know Hitler was not a Christian, other than to use Christians politically.

Hitler was a vegetarian, but that does not make all vegetarians bad.

9. the vast majority of DUers?
have you polled them? that seems like a pretty thoroughly unsubstantiated claim.

hey, maybe Hitler was a pagan. hard to say. he apparently said Anti-Christian things. he also said Pro-Christian things.

at any rate, he certainly pandered to religious beliefs in a way that seems all to familiar these days.

cheers,
will

14. Your comments are historically accurate. The Nazis organizing ...
... tactics involved takeover of the churches and other institutions, but the underlying Nazi ideology emphasized ancient Teutonic myth and was devoted to destroying the Judeo-Christian influence, which the Nazis regarded as hostile to their volkish philosophy.

4. Hitler planned to kill the Pope
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 05:22 PM by MacCovern
According to a press release from Catholic League President, William A. Donohue (2/4/99): "Hitler was a neo-pagan terrorist whose conscience was not informed by Christianity, but by pseudo-scientific racist philosophies. Hitler hated the Catholic Church, made plans to kill the Pope, authorized the murder of thousands of priests and nuns, and did everything he could to suppress the influence of the Church. In 1933, Hitler said, 'It is through the peasantry that we shall really be able to destroy Christianity because there is in them a true religion rooted in nature and blood.'"

15. Donohue is another rightwing nutcase. I think he happens to be correct ...
.. regarding the subject at hand, but in general he's a wacko, and I'd suggest other sources might be more credible.

Think of it this way, Hitler had Jewish blood and look at what he did to the Jews. Now we see that Hitler used Christianity for his cause while despising it himself, the idea doesn't seem too far fetched considering how demented he was.

12.  Seems to me that fascism will use use anything
When it surfaces it takes what it can get to add members to the ranks.Europe was in a state of asking questions about spirituality in the 18th &19th centurys like when people became protestants before. The Nazis found excuses in so many things like the occult with it's quote secrets, the Nordic Gods, creationism, you name it fascists will use it.
It is the worst human form of reacting without thinking things thru.bush is great at it,he is not a deep thinker and his followers buy into not wanting to think.John Wayne was an actor but most people think that is the way to deal with things.Bush and the dim bulbs do that Jonh Wayne gag .Hitler had atleast his own bullshit
and he sure wasn't a follower of Christ.
