Robert Fisk with the real story.
AMY GOODMAN: Well, you have been doing some reflection, as you also write a book. You can talk about your observations of where we stand today?

ROBERT FISK: Well, I think that the whole project in Iraq is finished. We are not being told by Mr. Blair in my case and Bush in yours that this is the case, and perhaps through their own misjudgment or their own fantasies, they don't even accept this themselves. But the American project for democracy or whatever its real purposes were, for oil, economic expansion, Middle East fit for Israel, whatever it may have been, that project is finished. It is hopeless. It cannot succeed. The insurgency in Iraq is so great now that American troops, however enormous their technology, cannot control it. The Iraqi so-called ministers, and I include Iyad Allawi, the so-called interim prime minister, who was of course appointed by the Americans as a former C.I.A. asset, they behave like statesmen when they tour the world or turn up in Washington, but in Baghdad they're not even safe inside their little Green Zone.

1. How can anyone NOT believe that the Iraq war is a failure?
Whether or not they believe it was justified, moral or legal, I don't see how anyone with at least half a brain can believe it can be successful. There's only so much stupidity in the world, even though John Stuart Mill was right when he wrote

"Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives."

 :+ :silly: :dunce: :+ :wow: :dunce: :freak:

5. And 25 years from now, the blame will lie, not in a idiotic policy, but
rather, those that opposed the stupidity.

6. I think it will depend on who is in power then.

4. I read in a thread here today they want another $100 Billion
to keep "painting schools" in 05

This insanity can't stop soon enough the MSM has hitched their wagon to this delusional crap & I hope they pay a heavy price for all their lies
& bullshit.

They have the blood of American troops & innocent Iraqi's on their collective hands.

They are in lock step spewing the White House & Pentagon propaganda each & every day. Misinforming the American public at every opportunity.

Thank God for the Professionalism of real Journalists like Robert Fisk
saying what needs to be said.

8. Robert Fisk is a well-respected British journalist
who has forgotten more about the Middle East than all the numbnuts in the Administration will ever know. This of course is an article that will NEVER see the light of day in the "librul" mainstream media because people who write words like these are appeasers and traitors to those who continually scream "Support Our Troops".

Unfortunately it's going to take many more deaths (American and Iraqi) and much more destruction before the American public gets its collective head out of its collective ass and says "Enough !!" My guess is it won't be before January 20, 2009.

Sad sad sad......

12. Bush has his fingers in his ears and is going la-la-la
From Atrios, posted last night, quoting from The Nelson Report:

http://atrios.blogspot.com/2005_01_02_atrios_archive.html#110498019101246699

There is rising concern amongst senior officials that President Bush does not grasp the increasingly grim reality of the security situation in Iraq because he refuses to listen to that type of information. Our sources say that attempts to brief Bush on various grim realities have been personally rebuffed by the President, who actually says that he does not want to hear "bad news."

<snip>

Our sources are firm in that they conclude this "good news only" directive comes from Bush himself; that is, it is not a trap or cocoon thrown around the President by National Security Advisor Rice, Vice President Cheney, and DOD Secretary Rumsfeld.
