Guess who BEGGED Clinton to INVADE IRAQ on January 26, 1998?
Elliott Abrams Richard L. Armitage
William J. Bennett Jeffrey Bergner
John Bolton Paula Dobriansky
Francis Fukuyama Robert Kagan
Zalmay Khalilzad William Kristol
Richard Perle Peter W. Rodman
Donald Rumsfeld William Schneider, Jr.
Vin Weber Paul Wolfowitz
R. James Woolsey Robert B. Zoellick

Any of them sound familiar?

<snip> We urge you to seize that opportunity, and to enunciate a new strategy that would secure the interests of the U.S. and our friends and allies around the world. That strategy should aim, above all, at the removal of Saddam Hussein’s regime from power. We stand ready to offer our full support in this difficult but necessary endeavor.

<snip>
The only acceptable strategy is one that eliminates the possibility that Iraq will be able to use or threaten to use weapons of mass destruction. In the near term, this means a willingness to undertake military action as diplomacy is clearly failing. In the long term, it means removing Saddam Hussein and his regime from power. That now needs to become the aim of American foreign policy.

CLINTON did NOT set policy to invade and destroy Iraq. The Bush Regime BEGGED him to... and he declined.

2. This is where a "journalism is required for justice"..we lost our media
to the corporations....

we lost our politicians to the corporations....

If not for O'neill's spilling these facts in print...the US media would never get from point a to b.

5. Exactly, Imperial Media more closely resembles Soviet Media
Than it does the Media of the post-WWII Old American Republic.

We lost our Free and Independant Press. Now our Techno-Circus of Celebrity is rapdily becoming the World's Laughingstock.

We could not have gotten this Empire if we'd still had a Free and Independant Press, IMHO.

4. And this is the point!! PNAC was trying to control the Clinton admin
and didn't succeed the way they wanted to. When this full story gets out, O'Neill will be viewed as a true hero and American who is trying to ward off the seizing of power by the neocon-facists in this country.

AMERICANS, WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

<on edit> post mishap.

Not as long as the "Elite Liberal Media" like CNN-Pravda with Wolf Blitzer as lead propagandist continue to parade the Neo-CONS before the dumbed down populace. Byron York and Frank Gaffney yesterday and Richard Perle and David Frum today. And the day is still young folks. Wolfie, Frum and Perle are on right now and will tell us what a Neo-CON IS. .:puke:

6. I hope Clinton sets the record
straight about this. But I'm afraid he might not. "Do not speak ill of the sitting president" is pretty much a given taboo.

8. This stuff has been there all along
and we anti-war activists have been lying in the streets and climbing lamposts screaming for the world to hear. Why can't the masses see this?

7. But yesterday I hear a radio snippet from Smirk* that his policy was just
the same as the previous administration's - regime change. I remembered having seen this letter and I laughed out loud until I realized that the press wouldn't expose this lie either and it will stand.

9. does the media see this stuff?
Surely they must know about the PNAC and go to their website. The writing has been on the wall for a long, long time.

11. The state run media is pissed
that "real" information succeeded in finding it's way into the public arena before they get a chance to distort and lie.

12. Typical of the bait and switch done by this administration.

You know like linking Saddam to Osama in the same sentence while not actually saying it. Then repeating it over and over. Typical Third Reich propaganda techniques. I emailed that URL to Wolfie hoping someone will point that out to him and so he gets his story straight. He has Richard Perle on right now while I type this. Paul O'Neill has got this wrong says David Frum who is also on. By saying the plans were in the works during the Clinton administration people think it was Clinton not the PNAC who were making the plans.

I HATE THESE LYING MORONIC BASTARDS!!!

to claim that CLINTON initiated the policy to invade iraq.

Just say GULF WAR.

Clearly RUSH is cranked up on the Oxy again if he forgot THIS little nugget.

when we first hired Saddam. So ironic that James Baker is out to get debt forgiveness. The ironies stack up irony after irony. Sad

17. he didn't set policy but obviously supported it
until he saw public opinion and the UN were rather opposed to it. Clinton chose correctly in not invading Iraq, it's just unfortunate that as smart as he is, Wolfowitz and co. were still able to influence him this much
