Whitacre D_WI Urges Rep. Sensenbrenner to Investigate O'Neill Claims
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHITACRE URGES REP. SENSENBRENNER TO INVESTIGATE O’NEILL CLAIMS

WAUKESHA, WI — Fifth-district Democratic candidate for Congress Vince Whitacre sent the following e-mail to Rep. F. Jim Sensenbrenner:

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill has laid out damning allegations regarding the Bush Administration's handling of Iraq, including the allegation that President Bush and his advisors had already decided to invade Iraq by January 2001 — long before the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1441, its demand for Iraq’s compliance with inspections and disclosure of its weapons of mass destruction programs; and long before the events of Sept. 11, which often have been evoked by the Bush Administration as the catalyst for invading Iraq.

President Bush himself now acknowledges there was no link between Iraq and the Sept. 11 attacks. Independent investigations by the respected Carnegie Endowment for International Peace have concluded that Iraq does not have weapons of mass destruction, a conclusion supported by the findings of U.S. weapons inspector David Kay.

It is now three years into Bush’s term, and 500 American troops lay dead, with several times as many injured. If, indeed, this war was inevitable from the day George Bush was sworn in as president, and if this war would be prosecuted regardless of the will of Congress or the American People, it is a grave affront to our democracy.

What else will we find out about this war? What else may the Administration be hiding?

I believe it is incumbent upon Congress to investigate Secretary O’Neill’s allegations to the fullest extent. As your constituent, I call upon you, Mr. Sensenbrenner, to use your authority as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee to investigate this matter.

After all, you personally managed the impeachment of President Clinton for much lesser crimes.

Sincerely,
Vince Whitacre

4. The dems should hold independent hearings
if the repugs refuse to do their duty.

The level of crimes and misdemeanors committed by this misadministration can no longer be ignored and allowed because of party loyalty. It would be like watching the POTUS murder someone in cold blood and not doing anything about it because you were a loyal republican. This no longer has anything to do with loyalty to a very flawed man but it does have every thing to do with loyalty to the United States of America.

8. There are 2 Dems running in the first.
Chet's a really good guy. I've never met the other candidate.

Nonetheless, it's time to get rid of Ryan.

And thanks to everyone for your kind words on the letter!
