Where is Ted Kennedy This AM?!? CNN Interview Cancelled?
I have suffered through 1 hour and 25 minutes of this pathetic
"Murican Morning" show on CNN waiting to see Sen. Kennedy "defend" his scathing speech on bushco* yesterday. It was announced to be on yesterday afternoon and on the website. All I have seen is bittercold, jackson,Iowa, bittercold, jackson, Iowa. No mention of Ted. Did I miss him when I went to the bathroom? Does anyone know what happened? This shit is truly painful to watch...

3. Today in the 7-7:30 half hour
Katie Couric (hated by the right hated by the left LOVED down the middle :bounce: ) really went after him and he would have none of it. She finished with "do you think the Democrats have ANUY chance to beat President Bush in November?" Ted said ~"Oh of course. His numbers are not that great and the American people will be offered a different vision of the future...."

I can't remember everything he said (reading the O'Neill book) but when a link is available I will post it.

4. He went after * but not with the strong rhetoric I would have liked.
Granted, he is the ONLY dem showing any leadership right now but he pointed out that we were misled and our war should not have been with Iraq but with Al Queda. He said this administration, by providing false evidence, took the honest debate away from the American people and congress. He said if we had presented with the facts, we never would have gone to war with Iraq.

One problem, he was talking about how the administration was looking at the evidence with "idealogical blinders". He gives a majority to much credit. I don't think your "average american" knows the definition of an "idealouge".

My husband (not as politically passionate as I am) was screaming at the television saying, "when is somebody going to grow a pair and call it like it is! They LIED, they LIED. No more they 'mislead' the people, THEY LIED." That is the kind of language he would like to see used. Call the kettle black.

Absolutly went after her when she asked some really asnine question, he said over and over the motives for going into this war are being questioned every day, and that new information and facts prove over and over again that Bush mislead the Congress and the Country!!! He was great!!!

regime change with military action?" but he cut her off. I hope more dems come to the defense of Clinton's policy. He NEVER would've acted unilaterally and pre-emptively. Never, never, never. Madeline Albright needs to hit the media, she is well respected so they won't try to bully her around. She will set the facts straight.

BTW, I saw her on Charlie Rose and she doesn't think we are any safer. She thinks that Iraq is so unstable right now that we are possibly in more danger.

21. Yes! He sounded good.
My 13 year old was watching it. I heard it in the background as I shaved.

It was great to hear him take this administration to task and not let the interviewer take over with right-wing talking points, as attempted a couple of times. He stood firm on the facts of the administration lying (my term, not his) in order to go to war.

In another, saner era this might be simple fidelity to truth, but in today's wacky context it is brave liberalism.

11. Anybody got a link to Tom Delay's response?
I saw the quote when Hemmer put it up on the screen this a.m., but I'd like to read it again. What a typically revulsive, nasty, and ignominious statement by the bug man Tom Delay. However, when he accused Kennedy of impuning the Chimp's patriotism, I had to stop and think... well, even if Kennedy intended to do that (though I think not), he would be right to do so!

There is no way that anyone with half a brain could consider the dumbass to be patriotic. He represents the antithesis of patriotism. Patriotism is wanting the best for one's country and, for one in a position of power, behaving in such a manner as to ensure that the country's best interests are promoted. Does George W. Bush fit that description? The answer is a resounding NO... nor does the bugman Tom Delay. These bastards really are traitors if the truth be known.

12. Here ya go
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,108385,00.html

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, called the speech a "hateful attack" and said Kennedy "insulted the president's patriotism, accused the Republican Party of treason and resurrected the weak and indecisive foreign policy of Jimmy Carter and Michael Dukakis."

I have no idea what he is talking about there at the end I guess he just wanted to get those names in there.

I appreciate ya! I just loved Ted's "garbage!" response, it was perfect. It actually left l'il Billy Hemmer speechless for a couple of seconds.

Yeah, Delay wanted to compare Kennedy to the "worst" librul democ-RATS he could come up with. Phew, what disgusting a**hole is Tom Delay!

15. Their patriotism is garbage!
I am so sick of these assholes wrapping themselves in the american flag while our troops are dying in an unecessary battle that was based on hundreds of lies. If that is patriotism, I guess I am not a patriot.

17. What? He raises the bugaboos of Carter and Dukakis but not Clinton?
DeLay is slipping.

Dukakis? Is he serious? Is he somehow thinking Dukakis was president, like Rush thought Humphrey had been a president?

16. He was on around 8:30 or so
I saw part of the interview as I was getting ready to come to school. And CNN is under no obligation to cater to what you want to see - Iowa and extremely cold conditions in New England are news as well.
