Just when I thought that life was safe, I get a RW e-mail. I would have thought that the people I know would know better. Below is the the text, my responses in bold. Editing help is welcome. ******* Subj: Very Interesting...
The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion" casually, think
about whether you want that politician spending your tax money. A billion
is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective in one of its releases:
1. A billion seconds ago, it was 1959.
2. A billion minutes ago, Jesus was alive.
3. A billion hours ago, our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
4. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate Washington spends it.
The Democrats are complaining on how long the war is taking but consider this:....(ok here we go grab your armchairs...Smittty)
1. It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation. 400+ dead soldiers, and counting, and grieving families would argue "mission accomplished."
2. It took less time to find Saddam's sons in Iraq than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records. And where are the WMD's, and Osama bin Forgotten for that matter?
3. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sunk at Chappaquiddick. The same amount of time for Mr. Bush* to visit the Martin Luther King site, drop off a wreath, and run to a $2000 per plate fund-raiser, all at taxpayer expense.
4. It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!!! The 80,000+ disenfranched voters made not counting the votes very easy, didn't they?
P.S. After all this time, this is my first post in GD. :hi:
