CNN FOX ABC--no sound on the footage of W at the MLK crypt/tomb
I flipped around early last night to those three channels thinking I might just see reports of the protests of the unwanted guest. All three basically had the same shot of W laying the wreath but I noticed that none of them had any sound accompanying it.

FOX actually did show the "weird hippees" in the crowd and did mention that 700-1,000 people were there. They did mention that W could in fact hear them.

ABC showed the city buses line up to stop the people from being an embarassment to W.

CNN showed about the same.

I only knew to look and listen from the threads yesterday here on DU. At first I thought that maybe they were further away than I had thought but a conversation with a co-worker who had been to Dr.King's crypt informed me that they were plenty close enough to have registered on the sound equipment.

Click on " • Protestors Rap Bush MLK Stop"

NewsHour also reported on it.

As I mentioned in another thread, MSNBC did as well.

24. Thanks a lot. That segment was really interesting.
It shows his car having to move right past a lot of protestors lining the street.

I hope it made an impression with him.

3. I agree: each one of Bushco's actions make me more suspicious
But there is room for doubt on this one, I think. The camera was so far away from the Shrub and the King family that the camera microphone was probably picking up nothing but crowd noise right around where the cameraman was standing. They would have had to put a mic on Shrubbie to hear what he was saying. Maybe Shrub was mic'd but the sound quality was so bad and distracting that they decided just to skip it. Hmm. Why air the clip at all, then?

Maybe Bush was mic'd, maybe not. It's significant, however, that the producers chose to air this footage even tho it has no sound. It raises questions indeed.

7. I noticed that CNN did not show it live but....
showed Bush immediately afterwards - after they had time to edit it. What are they afraid of? Of course, the part that the Bush WH wanted shown, of Bush laying the wreath - not the protests, is what CNN was mostly showing. Mouthpiece for the fascists.

9. Well you know it could be hard for them to get a camera there...
in Atlanta that is....uh....seeing as how they are.....uh...headquartered in .....uh........Atlanta........

:eyes:

The PRESIDENT is coming to the town you are in to speak about one of the city's greatest sons and you don't have live coverage? What does that say about their respect for Dr.King?

13. The tip of the iceberg...
Bush and company are going to get a lot more where that came from...

A Quote I read recently:

PROFOUNDLY IMPORTANT WARNING: By now we all know this: Huge political demonstrations are planned for this late Winter and early Spring, both in the U.S. and internationally. If police activity in Florida during the NAFTA meetings in November is any guide, the police state may continue to “riot” against the constitution and its citizenry in manners even more crudely than during the Vietnam War period. As in 2003, almost all of the coming political violence in the U.S. during 2004 is likely to be conducted by police agencies trying to play “games” of dominance and intimidation taught to them by corrupted academics, none of which they were hired under the constitution to do and all of which are gross and egregious violations of the right of the people to assemble. One of these riots may become the flash point of a major domestic turning, forcing the call out of the National Guard. That could become a watershed political event.

14. No that was me
The media always show the most wacked out looking person they can find. I know I went to the DC protest in Oct.2002 and the crowd there was nothing like the crowd I saw there.

17. Decorum and class
You may not like it (she made to comment on it afterwards) but you still are civil.

Of course decorum also dictates that you don't invite yourself.

26. Mrs King?
Here is Coretta King watching Bush piss on MLK's grave. Is she going over to the dark side?

She is a bit of a media hound, so I am sure she was more than happy to get some press.

The $2000 a plate fundraiser shortly after laying the wreath-----what amazing arrogance.

Otherwise (I think) he would have to reimburse the taxpayers for the trip.

23. You know that if it was Clinton getting booed
by a crowd of protesters, CNN and FAUX would have turned up the volume and drowned out anything Clinton was trying to say.
