Republicans - The Party of Death
And then, it hit me:

It's all about death!

Most people are afraid to die, so fear of death is easily morphed into fear of...everything. Ergo, we've got to be afraid of foreign bogeymen, of unseen terrors and all of those non-American guys who hate us for our freedoms. And here at home, we've got to fear and distrust anyone who implies that we shouldn't listen to all the fear mongering. Hell, they're probably in cahoots with the evil ones (isn't it interesting that the repugs have formed a bond with the most-extreme fundy Xtian sects and their obsessive cult and culture of death worship?)!

But the real death comes when you *vote* for the repugs, because voting repug means that you might die, because:

• you're young, and you were sent off to die as chattel in some god-forsaken corner of the world for the sake of bush's oil cronies

• you can't afford any health care

• you can't afford your prescription drugs

• you thought that our government would protect you from terrorist attacks

• you like to travel, and you're now a target of anti-American blow-back

• you're being slowly poisoned by bush's human-unfriendly enviro policies

• you're a minority and you continue to get the short end of the stick on everything

• you're a vet who defended your country but now you're being turned out into the street and denied benefits

• your local police and firemen don't have the money or the staff to save you from your burning home

• the money you hoped to retire on has been stolen by bush and his corporate cronies, so you are forced to go back to work...and you work yourself to death

• and a host of other reasons too numerous to mention

Republicans - the party of death.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

1. And they would reply thusly:
The Liberals support the murder of babies! Democrats = The party of death.

4. Brain hits it over the fence.
This is why "the party of death" will never side otherwise.

5. Not me - I believe in the "seamless garment" argument
Espoused by Cardinal Bernardin and others. We are anti-capital punishment, anti-war, anti-abortion, anti-hunting(mine)anti-destruction of the planet (mine)anti-killing animals for food except in extreme necessity,(mine) et al. Basically, I'm anti suffering of any kind by any sensient being - even freepers!

9. Great example of why Liberals can't Frame the debate
You over-rationalize it. Even when we are successful in framing something (for example, Bush = Hitler), we back off and say we didn't mean it. Instead, we should be happy that we're controlling the dialog...they are responding to us...they are talking about how Bush compares to Hitler. We win. But no, we back off and apologize. I can see why people don't like the Democrats.

11. I didn't post this as a position for the Dems to take publicly.
I just posted it as an observation. I'm not asking Dean or Clark or whoever to get out there on the stump and use it.

I guess I should have taken more care during this primary season. It's easy for people to take a thought and run with it.

6. And if they did it would be still more LIES
They could also say Bush* has done more for civil rights than any president in history but again more LIES. In fact most everything they say is LIES. Can you inform us of something they claim that isn't LIES? They are the party of FEAR though not necessarily the party of death although they have nothing against death. They dish it out willingly. They are just afraid of their shadows. Cowards each and every one of them. And that ain't no lie.
