Chance to Flip 2 Congress Seats NOW
...even before November! Let's usher in the retaking of Congress EARLY!

There are two vacant House seats, in Kentucky and in South Dakota. Both were former Republican seats and in both races the Democrat has a slight lead. A little influx of cash NOW could help both campaigns win and set the stage for the retaking of Congress in November.

No one covers special elections...but they SHOULD. A Dean style, nationwide, small donation campaign can give these campaigns the push they need to make it. Please donate and spread the word!

And while I'm at it, is there anyone else interested in starting a nationwide campaign to raise money for WINNABLE seats? I live in a majority Republican district with an ELEVEN term Republican. Every two years, Democrats throw their money into a campaign that is destined to fail...miserably. I'm encouraging my neighbors to send their checks instead to the Democrat in AZ-CD1, a majority Democrat district that was won in 2002 by a Republican because the Democrats killed each other in a truly nasty primary. Let's get this idea nationwide and start kicking out Republicans!

Sam

2. I'm interested in helping!!
HELL, YES!! I'm interested in helping Democrats take winnable seats. Since the Gephardt-Pelosi strategy of appeasement hasn't worked, let's do it ourselves.

I live in the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana. Here, we had a Democratic Congressman for 12 years in a slightly Republican district. Then, after he announced that he would retire, our State Legislature redrew the district to make it a few points more Democratic (now its about 52% D). Well, in the 2002 Primary, the local political Machine threw everything it had to defeat a bright, young, articulate candidate who was really scoring with voters. After the cash landslide from the Machine, we ended up with defeated ex-Congresswoman and House check-bouncer Jill Long. Her campaign was totally inept and she lost the race to a rich, right-winger who DOES NOT EVEN LIVE IN THIS CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT!!!

If our party leaders won't lead, I guess they'll have to follow or get out of the way!!

6. Any chance that the young primary candidate - might run again?
or any other discussions of who might challege Chocola?

I was redistricted out of Hostettler's district (who displaced a man of great integrity, the late Frank McCloskey) into Baron Hill's district.

3. Sage advice
I'm sure at least a few will donate some if word gets out a bit more. We can win back Congress. There are many Republicans who arfe beginning to see a little bit of light and have decided they will just sit this next election out. Even those in "safe" seats have a lot to worry about. Bush* has long coattails and they are not in the right direction for those Congressmen who feel safe.

4. When are those two elections?
i.e. the SD & KY seats?

Great idea, channeling our resources into winnable campaigns. Heck, this may even be important enough to warrant its own DU forum: "Politics & Campaigns: Take Back Congress 2004"!
