Did anyone hear Brian Lamb speculating on Bush challenger from the Right
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 04:19 PM by KoKo01
who would be upset with Bush's deficit spending? He was reading from a WT's article about Paul Weyrich and some of the other fiscally conservative wing nut groups being pissed off at Bush. Brian then said, "we will be covering more of this as the story unfolds about a possible challenger to Bush regarding his spending deficits."

I've had a feeling Bush will get a challenger, and it seemed Lamb seemed to feel the article was suggesting something was brewing.

Wondered if anyone else saw it. I had a heating repairman here at the time so I was distracted, but that's what I believe I heard. If so that would be great! And, I wondered if Brian had someone whisper it in his ear from a RW source, which would be even better news that something really is in the works about this.

On Edit: This was on this morning's C-Span "Washington Journal."

1. I caught part of that, also,
but someone came to the door I so had to leave it. Sounded to me like there might be someone waiting in the wings and getting ready to make an announcement. I hope so.

2. But Bush* is the second coming ~ haven't you seen the halo picts?
I doubt seriously anyone will run against Bush* from the GOP. They can't get away from their goosestepping long enough to run a campaign.

3. Thanks for posting what Lamb said
I've been hoping someone from the right would challenge Bush. BTW, here's discussion on LBN of WT article.

4. Thanks, there's a good discussion going on at that link. I would have
missed it, since I only heard Brian's comment but missed the article. That's the one he was talking about. Nice to see what it was all about.

5. I'll believe that when I see that and not before
Please. Not only would a challenger to the Imperial Family be excoriated by the MIghty Wurlitzer of the Party-Loyal Sub-Media night and day with fabrications and lies, but Total Information Awareness and the way it serves the Busheviks outside the law insures that every tiny shady dealing and minor infraction said challenger has ever done in his life will be exposed also. And it won't be lies because it will be taken from the challenger's own records.

But, whom? Or,will the "Fiscally Conservative" Dems rally round one of our Dems? If so...who will it be???

9. Challenging Bush from the right
It's too late for anyone to challenge Dubya for the Republican nomination. I mean, Iowa is on Monday, for chrissakes! In the time it would take someone to announce their candidacy, get an organization together, and raise enough money and support to be a serious challenger, all the primaries and caucuses will be over.

I think the deadline to even get on the ballot in most states has passed, meaning any challenger would have to mount an effective write-in candidacy on top of everything else!

Any challenge to Bush from a rightward direction would have to come from a Pat Buchanan/Ross Perot-style third party candidate, someone would could exploit the budget deficit, government spending, Bush's immigration plan, maybe even the pouring of tax money into nation-building and overseas intervention or some other conservative gripe against the current Administration.

This candidate, maybe a Libertarian or Constitution party nominee or an independent from an unexpected direction, could draw enough support from Dubya or turn off enough of his base to throw the election to the Democratic nominee.

It could also push the whole debate to the right, forcing W to come out for a constitutional ban on gay marriage for example.

Either way, a rightist challenge would have to come from outside the GOP.

11. Yeah, too late. However, could someone already on the ballot challenge?
I think there are already a number of challengers on the GOP ballot. I was hoping that tancredo would challenge bush. Even though he probably could not beat him for the nomination, it would weaken bush anyway.

10. immigration, not the deficit, would be the driver for a Bush challenger
The mass illegal and legal immigration would be the thing that would drive a challenger.

12. There are at least 15 people
running against Bush in New Hampshire, I met two of them last night at our show --

We showed some of our animations in a Universal Unitarian Church along with UNCOVERED by Robert Greenwald and then hosted a discussion panel..

WE are the only ones to host TWO Republicans running against BUSH, that's how big our tent is - the Repugs won't and the Media here REFUSES to cover it..

One is Called Bosa and is a mayor of a town near here and the other is John Buccanan - the guy that has the Nazi papers from the National archives that PROVE Bush money came from trading with the enemy..

we're doing more shows and are on the Campaign trail here IN NEW HAMPSHIRE so if you have any tips or news to impart, let us know..

tomorrow we are going to be chasing both Clark and Michael Moore around NH and getting the story out --

Symbolman on the Campaign Trail :)
