4. "Saddam MIGHT be captured", "Terrorists MAY hijack planes".
Hey wait a minute! These statements are ALWAYS true. They contain no new information.

7. The new threat is better than the colors
Specific info is better than just "We are raising the terror alert level."
Sometimes you have to give credit when it is due.

If you do not, it makes you seem like a whining crybaby.

My thoughts exactly, Gin.

Uday and Qusay didn't raise the poll levels enough.

10. In all fairness
they did take a lot of heat for not warning people enough prior to 9-11. Not sure we can really fault them now for maybe going overboard in the other direction.

12. Have you seen this?
Air marshals pulled from key flights

Move seen as bid to cut costs
comes amid new
hijack warnings

--snip--

Please reconcile the two stories for me, would ya? Are you dizzy yet? Do you know what cognitive dissonance is?

15. Yeah, they're warning us to keep us safe.
Ha! Remember when AssKKKroft announced he'd captured the not-accused-or-tried-of-anything Jose Padilla like a month after he'd been captured, and from Russia?

These alerts are very carefully timed to coincide with other news stories they don't like. The "chatter" that led to this one is probably 6 months old, and from guys in Gitmo ho haven't seen their Al Qaeda buddies since '01!

Even if this shit was credible, theres's nothing the average American can do about it but go about his business, so why report on it except that it's a distraction/fearmongering tool.

Only Holy Joe would believe that they're sincere about these warnings. I hope that the first thing the new prez does is abolish the stupid terror alert system.

17. NBC Nightly News last night was all about this BS, taking it seriously
There wasn't a word about YellowcakeGate or plunging consumer confidence.

There wasn't a word of skepticism about the "convenient" timing of this new "alert."

So, I guess they figure their method still works pretty well. They won't stop using it as long as it works. :puke:

23. No doubt this is an exercise in CYA.
If something DOES happen, they say "we warned you".

If nothing happens, they say "better safe than sorry".

Yeah . . . that's leadership.
