Heard the "highlights" of Bush press conference. All I can say to Media
is please don't have any more. You are just too embarrassing. The question "when do you think you will get Saddamm" was treated with the deserved reply "I don't know". And that was the most insightful and aggressive question asked.

1. You must have missed
the question about how he plans to spend $175 million before the primaries.

"Just watch me," was his glib response. He also implied that since he's running for re-election people expect him to do this. :puke:

There were many tidbits of arrogance and incompetance. Unfortunately you won't see them on any highlights.

4. And what was the media response to the "just watch me" gem?
No I didn't hear that. Does this press core know when they are being insulted?

10. Apparently not.
They gave him a pass. If he spends 75% of his remaining term campaigning, this fawning press won't raise a goddamn squeak.

2. Did anyone else notice
that both David Gregory and Terry Moran were missing? I had noticed they weren't at the WH briefing earlier this week. Since this is known to be the dog days in DC, I'll bet both of them are on vacation and that helped convince * that he should hold a press conference today.

But, quilp, you're right. They were so gentle, it was embarrassing. None of them have the guts to demand a follow-up, to demand he answer. It's disappointing that none of them will sacrifice their own "moment in the spotlight" to drop their own question and demand that he answer the one he just avoided. One of them did try to demand an answer that he avoided and he just avoided it a second time. Unbelievable.

7. The radio report said it was for an hour.
Surely Bush had to respond to something? Not that the radio mentioned it if he did.

She flung him right back one of those high hard ones which for the life of me I can't remember.

5. I seem to recall she asked the SOTU accountability question.
Got back his "of course, fool, I said it, didn't I!?" sandbox reply.

She'll probably tire and give up soon, or never be called on again.

Was she in for Stretchmark? I missed her affiliation.

14. Kate Snow
I forget what she asked. Maybe she had the Iraq/9-11 connection question? If so, *'s answer was essentially "the ends justify the means" as far as using false intelligence to start a war. The implication is that if you dare suggest that * misled the nation, you'd rather Saddam be back in power. Shrill and shrude - very repiglickin' tactic.

11. I looked up your link. you have sadistic impulses.
I was feeling bad enough about the bit I heard. No wonder they were called "highlights". The rest was worse than I imagined.

12. He kept harping on his confidence in the intelligence he received...
no one in the media mentioned that the intelligence he got circumvented normal channels (ie, OSP).

I have yet to hear anything about the OSP in the regular media. It's a travesty.

13. the blonde newbie....
....was Kate Snow. I think maybe he was trying to flirt with her. (Sick freak)

Ron Fournier (America's premier reporter) was missing, too. He's been gone for at least a week.

So at least three hard-hitters were away.

They only got an hour's notice.

16. I think this statement will be one Bush might regret later
Make sure you save it:

"I take personal responsibility for everything I say, of course. Absolutely. I also take responsibility for making decisions on war and peace. And I analyzed a thorough body of intelligence--good, solid, sound intelligence that led me to come to the conclusion that it was necessary to remove Saddam Hussein from power."
