it seems that a lot of "straight" people don't give a shit whether or not gays can get married. saying that i'm straight and willing to fight for gay rights is sort of like the allied forces fighting to defend the jews during WWII. i mean, duh, not just like that, but the similarity is in the idea of people who don't really HAVE to fight for this issue coming together and fighting for it anyway.

for example, i have a christian friend who is somewhat of a bornagain. (although, yay, she hates * ) i'm not christian. but the fact that she'll defend me to other people on the basis of religion means a lot to me. :-D

I support whatever the state says. If the state of Massachusetts says we’re going to form a civil union but we’re going to call it marriage, then as far as I’m concerned, that’s marriage.

This has been just a dismal week. First the Caucuses, then a DOMA bill got one step closer to passage in Ohio, and now this. I thought we were on the way up and now it looks like we may be in worse shape than before. I just am so damn tired of not having even basic rights. It sucks.

We all have to take a stand. If the wingnuts see enough pink triangles out there maybe they'll realize that not all the world is intolerant or bigoted. Additionally, I do it in memory of all my Friends who died of AIDS when it was just a "gay" disease.

I'm just about at the point that I feel dislike for THEM for who they are. I'm fighting to keep from turning into someone who hates faux conservatives because of who they are. THAT scares me about this situation. I don't want to be anything like them.

My neighbors came over last night and asked that I keep it down because I was yelling so loudly when he got to this defense of marriage BULLSHIT.

The odds of them actually getting the amendment is extremely small, but this kind of hatred should not be allowed to run rampant

People should accept reality on this one so the repubs don't blind side us on it.

Take a look at the number of states who have passed laws defining marriage. Apparently today you can add another to that list. All of these states are prime candidates to pass an amendment reflecting a state law they have already passed. From what I understand it only one more state would now be needed.

Take a look at who controls congress. The dems MAY be able to stop it in the senate - I don't know how many dems would be for or against it. This assumes, of course, they don't use one of the methods out of the 4 that allows amending of the constitution with out the national congress. They may have the states to do it.
