"America must be a light to the world, not just a missile." Nancy Pelosi
That statement says it all about how the US is viewed in the world's eyes, thanks to the Bush agenda of preemptively attacking anyone whenever he feels like it. Where's the humanity, George? Where's the civilization?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3416601.stm

President Bush insisted that his foreign policies had made Americans - and the world - safer.

Comment: Iraq is the most dangerous place in the world, US embassies have become armed camps, as have US military bases home and abroad--with restrictions on travel to groups no larger than 25.

Thanks to Bush's policies, Americans have become a constant terror target. How can that condition be interpreted as "safe?"

1. this woman should just shut up
when the time was she could have spoken up and done something about stopping the ways things were moving she didn't. She just went along kissing up with the Bush agenda. Like the bunch of democrat legislator insiders who have lost sight of what it means to represent the democratic ideals she needs to be voted out of office for her pathetic record. What is it now? She suddenly realizes she needs to work at her re-election?

2. Like Kerry and Edwards on bombing Iraq and the Patriot Act?
That kind of "stopping?"

That's why I don't get into posting wars over specific dem candidates--there are a lot of things they should have said and done given the circumstances, but didn't.

3. Uh, I think you have the wrong Dem
Pelosi is a fighter...she's done a great job holding the Dem Reps in line and has brought back an edge of "consequences" to be paid for those who choose to cast their lot with the GOP. Here's an example from the Medicare debacle last year (source - WP):

<snip>
Soon after Rep. Steve Israel (N.Y.) joined eight other House Democrats in voting for a Republican version of a major Medicare bill last summer, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) summoned him to her office.

"She was very clear and very firm in making sure I understood the caucus position on the bill and that unity was very important," Israel recalled. "It was not the happiest conversation I've had in politics."

In the end, however, he did not resent the dressing down. "I didn't leave the room with any questions about where she stood," he said. "It's an extremely refreshing sign of leadership. There's no guesswork."

5. I was disappointed in the response of both
they are SCARED of the bully George Bush, still!!! They both are as selfish as any when it comes to protecting themself instead of protecting the people of the US. Very flabby and without any significant support for us.
