The SOTU wasn't even a speech

This event has become a collection of phrases run together in a rather meaningless jumble (probably designed for sound bite use) with applause injected at every hesitation. Spending proposals are thrown in to make it seem like what is being suggested has some basis in reality.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear a thoughtful and honest presentation on the SOTU?

They would be punished severely by the Imperial Family if they misuesed their state-coerced megaphone to counter the words of their Emperor.

Punished severely, perhaps even losing their job entirely. At the very least reassigned.

No, the Cronkites and Murrows are not granted the megaphones. In fact, they are discourage from joining Imperial Pravda at all.
