I was really surprised with what I saw on NBC. Immediately after the presidents speech, the first thing was comments by Tim Russert. Of course, few of us think much of him, but he said nothing of praise about Bush's speech. The one thing he said before they went to satellite was that the Democrats were saying all the same things just with different solutions. The immediately after he said that, they gave John Kerry air time. Kerry proceeds to speak very candidly about the faults and failures in the presidents address and broader agenda. Then they went from that to another Democrat who was also critical. And then - right after that, the Democratic response was up. And then -- after a commercial break the came back with a taped piece about how Bush was slipping in the polls and the piece was critical of how Bush changed when he took office, campaigning as a uniter and speaking from the center, then moving to the hard right and alienating a lot of people. In my opinion, the piece was a negative one...
...only after all of this did we finally hear from Newt Gingrich - yuck. Then it was on to Wesley Clark, and - although Brokaw too him to task a bit, it was still more air time for opinions of dissent. Then after that it was on to John Stewart.
I was incredibly surprised. There are plenty of republicans out there who they could have gotten air time with. It was amazing to me that 90% of the post SOTU wrap up presented so unfavroably...
... did I miss something or what is the deal? Not that I'm complaining...
