Ayatollah Sistani has a website
he is the Shiite Cleric that the US fears. Him, and the people of Iraq, are the ones that are calling for direct elections. He is not seeking any authoritarian or governmental power from what I understand (cite: Juan Cole, PBS News with MacNeil Lehrer Newshour). He is just trying to help the country's transistion.

Riverbend's blog is also worried about the creeping fundamentalism.
