A video to replace the Dean Scream in the media
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 12:20 AM by ptm216
I only caught the tail end of this but here's a link to the transcript. It's from a campaign stop in New Mexico.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4038870/

Here's the jist of what the President had to say (I'm sortof running his statements together here..the transcript itself is too long to post).

I'm hungry. I think I'll order some ribs. Yeah, I'll buy some ribs and help out the economy. You, you make a lot of money. Let me tell you how the economy works. I'm not saying you are over paid, but...let me tell you how the economy works. Are you hungry? How about some cheese cake? It's home made cheese cake. You buy ribs and that helps out the economy. You see? That's how it works..."

edit: If ANYONE has a link to the video it would be much appreciated!

Though their transcript is a little different than the one at MSNBC.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/01/20040122-5.html

At first I thought that was the spoof site, and then I realized it wasn't. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Wonkette had a funny comment on it (you have to scroll down a bit):

Yes, everyone, it's very funny that the President is such a rib-focused guy. But we all knew he was a man with a laser-like ability to focus on a single issue for seconds at a time; it's a pleasant surprise to find he can do so for the length of an entire conversation. In any case, what's really worrisome about the "Remarks by the President to the Press Pool" (I have about 165 copies, thanks everyone.) isn't the ribs thing: It's that the world's largest economy is in the hands of someone whose grasp of financial theory can essentially be reduced to "I have two apples. If I take one apple and give it to you. . ."

We kid. Of course he doesn't think that way! Why should the government give away apples to people who don't work? Fucking apple queens.

Edited because I assume people prefer working links.

3. someone posted a link here to a wmv file of it today
I was going to download it, but I just happened to see it on tv just before I did. I don't remember who posted it, but it was early this afternoon (or late morning). Maybe you can find it if you search a little. I remember that the file was about 12MB.

6. Or if someone can get it, the following
Want to know something really disgusting? BBC has footage of Shrubbie smirking and gloating at imminent mass murder in Iraq, and no one here has seen it once, let alone hundreds of times. Maybe someone savvy about such things could do something about that--and what campaign would be more motivated about now? (Links may be dated, and articles could be in the archives by now.)

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/page.cfm?objectid=12761184&method=full&siteid=50143

Later, just seconds before he went on TV to tell the world war had started, he vigorously pumped his fist and declared: "I feel good." The extraordinary gesture was in stark contrast to the furrowed brow and look of concern he adopted for the subsequent broadcast.

http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/03/03/21_groom.html

As reported in the Washington Post, the White House is quite peeved that video of Bush getting groomed and acting jolly was broadcast prior to his "we're bombing Iraq" announcement:

The White House is vowing a strong retaliatory response after the BBC aired live video of President Bush getting his hair coiffed in the Oval Office as he squirmed in his chair

7. Or how about the nose-picking?
Come on, all you Deaniac computer jocks, get busy on this! (And let backers of other candidates take note that they aren't immune from this crap either.)
