Bob Dole

Okay other than being the most boring man on the face of the earth, what's this guy like? Is he one of those Republicans that didn't really care for the neocon agenda or is he just another one of them. From what I've heard he's a pretty nice guy outside of politics.

A debate between those two could cure insomnia.

Old style conservative, has shown willingness to compromise, was genuine WWII veteran (has use of only one arm, after losing most of the bone in the other after he was shot in Italy.)

I hear he's a decent guy.. That is if you can say any Republican is decent. I think he's still depressed by being steamrolled by Clinton in 96.

I've seen videos of him in unguarded moments and he has this very dry sarcastic side. There was something on CSpan a while back with him and Clinton together speaking at some function. He was pretty funny.

His politics are more conservative, but certainly not neocon. I'm sure he'd hate the recent deficits.

He used to be on the Daily Show all the time before it became so popular. Anybody who can get on national TV to do Viagra commercials can't be all bad.

and still macking it with his wife.

So he can't be that bad.

Dole filibustered Clinton's health care reforms in the Senate, basically killing them and making the Democratic leadership in Congress look ineffective and out of touch. It was this that got the Republicans the House, not Newt and his Contract. As a senator he was powerful and hurt this country.

As a vice presidential candidate, he was a hatchet man, in 1976 he accused the Democrats of being a war-mongering party that was responsible for America's participation in most of the wars of the 20th century. Mondale called him on it. As a presidential candidate he was boring-- probably too afraid to let the sarcastic Bob Dole out in public.
